Wild Force Figure Review

Today I picked up a Red Wild Force Power Ranger at Toys R Us. He was the last
of the Wild Force figures, and the only other Wild Force toy they had was the
Growl Phone. Now to my review.

In terms of appearence the figure looks great. It will display very nicely.
The weapons are all colored. No dull grey ones this time.

In terms of the figure itself I am pretty disapointed. The thing that kills
this figure is the action feature. I thought we were beyond action features in
the first line of PR figures for a series. Since Space we've been getting
basic action figures with light and or sound. But this time around we go back
to the Zeo Turbo days with action features that limit the figure's posibility.
The Red Ranger has 9 points of articulation. Now this might not sound bad, but
it is. Compaired to last years 14 points of articulation for the first wave of
figures. The arms can more in the shoulders (although not freely thanks to the
action feature), elbows, and at the base of the gloves. The joint at the base
of the gloves is a fine substitute for the writst joints Time Force had, but it
lacks the forearm articulation that the TF's had. The head does move, which is
a plus considering most first wave figures lack head articulation due to lights
in the helmets. But the biggest draw back is the leg articulation, or lack
there of. The action feature is activated mega-launching style, so no leg
articulation. The knees cant even bend, they can only rotate. In a series
like PR that is martial arts based I think lacking leg articulation is a huge
deal.

This is only for Red. I don't know about the others. Although I'm pretty sure
Pink and Yellow don't have action features in the figures themselves but in
their weapons. Hopefully they'll have all their articulation in tact. Overall
this figure is a leap backwards after IMO improving the figs every year since
Space. Is it too much to ask for normal figures with NO special features? I
think not. But I've said it before and I'll say it again. I hate action
features.
