I don't know. I have been very busy with other writings and
haven't gotten to this project yet. In all honesty, Mr Anthony
is quite old now, and while I am not sure if he objects to fanfiction,
as there is some on fanfiction websites, and I have written an email
to him about this idea, which he said wasn't for him, but didn't
object to the idea, so as he is getting quite old I will possibly just
wait, dare I say it, to the rider on a pale horse comes by his place
in Xanth, mentions to him that the hourclock of his time has run out,
and beckons him to the great beyond. In this way there will be no
more official earth writings from Mr Anthony on Xanth for him or
myself to worry about copyright problems and potentially dipping into
ideas he might want to have used, and I should hopefully be able to
write some Xanth fanfiction, which I do hope will be good enough
for his legacy. I have read quite a lot of Piers work, since
a young age, and he has reviewed some of my stories in the
Chronicles of the Children of Destiny (
http://noahidebooks.angelfire.com ).
If I do get into doing this work I will, in all likelihood, just wait
until, not tempting fate, Piers is deceased, and get to it then.

That might be a good idea. In all honesty, I read just the first nine books
of Xanth, from A Spell for Chameleon to Golem in the Gears, back in the late
1980s. I have recently acquired Xanth volumes 10 to 20, and while I haven't
gotten around to reading them yet, they do sit proudly on my bookcase.
I could not say that in my fanfiction works so far I am 100% a canon
compliant writer, as I mostly go with my own ideas, and focus on the feel
of the established characters and the basic elements of the universe
they are part of. I don't try to get too detailed with my fanfiction
writing of other universes. Perhaps I should.
