Sean Connery (9 votes, 19.1%)
George Lazenby (2 votes, 4.2%)
Roger Moore (5 votes, 10.6%)
Timothy Dalton (6 votes, 12.7%)
Pierce Brosnan (16 votes, 34%)
Daniel Craig (9 votes, 19.1%)
David Niven (0 votes, 0%)

So, since 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the 007 films, I figured we
could have a little discussion on who was our favorite portrayal of
James Bond.

Sometimes I think our choice of our favorite James Bond comes into play when
we first started watching the series. Younger folks today never saw the
Connery Bond in the theaters. Me, I like Roger Moore the best because he is
the one I remember best from the theaters. I also liked Pierce Brosnan.
Daniel Craig has yet to grow on me. And, yes, I did like Sean Connery once
I started to see his films, but Moore still tops my list. (David Niven??)

Those poll results only tell me one thing: Pierce Brosnan shouldn't have
been allowed to vote more than once.

And where's Rowan Atkinson?...

Or Barry Nelson?

My guess is that everyone likes the Bond they grew up with and the
majority in this poll grew up with Pierce Brosnan's Bond. He was fine
but the movies weren't.

George Lazenby looked and acted the part okay but had a terrible
speaking voice. (Re: the butterfly collection scene), he lies nowadays
and says he decided not to make a second film himself.
Daniel Craig, a bit like Timothy Dalton, tends to speak a little too softly.
Roger Moore had the best and clearest voice.
Sean Connery had the best all round voice.
Pierce Brosnan spoke very well for the most part, but lacked something
that Sean Connery had.
What about Peter Sellers?

Each Bond actor seemed good at some time or another, but I put Sean
Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan as the best ones. In the past I
got very tired of Roger Moore but think the memory of him seems a bit
different now.
Too much of the action star with Daniel Craig, though he does the part well.

. . . so as the years pass, with increasing dismay you realize that
they'll never cast an actor who looks like Hoagy Carmichael as James
Bond.

Craig is a fairly good match.

If Fleming had meant that, he'd have had Bond jammin' in Monte Carlo.

Sean Connery was the best Bond for the 20th century. Daniel Craig --
who has an irresistible Steve McQueen type quality about him -- is the
best new Bond. IMO of course.

I agree on both counts. Meanwhile, I think Pierce Brosnan is the worst.

Then he could have sung his own theme songs. Think how much better
Skyfall would have been if Daniel Craig had song the title song in a
night club scene rather than Adele during the opening credits.

No, no, no. This issue isn't about opinion. Bring remorseless hubris
or stay home...

Of course, 21st century Bonds are like other 21st century action
movies - much more killing going on. Much, much more.

I'm not picturing Hoagy singing "Goldfinger"...

Oh, sorry... I forgot. Oh. Wait. I probably shouldn't apologize.
Dammit.
