My fav Ted Bell shows are where he had it go to a bad area of LA to pay his
late phone bill, and when he ripped the wheel chair ramp (with his powerful
SUV) off of Mavis's van, with her still on it!

My favorite "Guests" are...(and I swear Ted Bell is #11)

1. Lloyd Bonafide -- A genuine hoot/coot. Two years ago he
wouldn't have made my Top 10; obviously he fought his way out from
the bottom. [voice characterization = A]
2. Bobbie Dooley (& Steve) -- The unforgettable (and unforgivable)
couple. [Bobbie's voice characterization = A; Steve's = C]
3. Clara Bingham -- Spunky, Afro-centric, and doesn't give-a-damn.
[voice characterization = A+]
4. Bob Green -- Because his topics are never predictable; he
is 'multi-faceted wacky'. [voice characterization = B]
5. Art Griego -- I have never grown tired of his shocking airline
stories and alcohol-induced antics (there must be close to 100 of
them by now). Somehow he always comes across as the most 'real' of
the guests. [voice characterization = A]
6. Steve Bosell -- Contains many classic elements (crying, hanging
up then calling back, naming-names of neighbors and associates, etc.)
Would be rated higher if Phil didn't rely on him so much for
scatalogical humor (at least lately). [voice characterization = B+]
7. Jay Santos -- Always incites the funniest calls; but, like
Steve, relied on far too heavily for 'easy' or 'unearned' laughs
(such as body-cavity searches) [voice characterization = A]
8. Austin Amarka -- Overearnest yet not overbearing, he is like a
misguided teddy bear. I love it when he's on the air. [voice
characterization = B+]
9. Doug Dangur -- Glib and confrontational. Can be plugged into
virtually any scenario; the unprovoked paranoia about being gay is
always good for some big laughs. [voice characterization = A]
10. Jeff Dowder -- Like Lloyd, he "grew on me" over time. His
surfer-dude accent is somewhat charming, but it's definitely ALARMING
when Phil places him into offbeat situations (like making him a
scientist to discuss a mission to the sun!). [voice characterization
= B]

"Guests" I either can't stand or just don't record.

1. Bud -- please Lord, no more! [voice characterization = F]
2. Rudy -- As soon as he comes on I know what will happen: he will
misinterpret a Spanish phrase or two. Ho-hum. [voice
characterization = D]
3. R.C. Collins -- I have never understood the Collins "cult." I
think he's lame. [voice characterization = D]
4. Margaret Gray -- I think she wore out her welcome back in Miami;
just variations on the same old celebrity-skewering theme (Doug
Dangur is a much more capable--and biting--entertainment reporter).
[voice characterization = B]
5. David G. Hall -- I have a few clips of him that I treasure. But
for the past year it's been mainly pointless shrieking. [voice
characterization = B+; voice characterization when compared to Harvey
Wireman = F]
6. Raj -- Deport his ass! [voice characterization = C-]
7. Chris Norton -- He is quickly running out of boorish material.
Pretty predictable stuff when he's on. [voice characterization = B-]
8. Roland -- Roly-Poly activism can be fun to poke fun about, but
the face-stuffing-while-on-the-phone and the veiled pedophilia is a
bit over-played. [voice characterization = C]
9. Dave Oliva -- ONLY WHEN HE'S IN THE STUDIO (hint, hint, Phil!)
[voice characterization on phone = A-; in studio = D-]
10. Dean Wheeler -- Sounds like a fruity Dooley. I'll take Mrs.
Dooley, any day. [voice characterization = C-]

p.s. I loved Steve Wornell back in the Miami days... If he were
still alive he would definitely be rated in the Top 5.
