In the following two sections (news report about Randa's deposition and a
snippet from Simpson's deposition), we see a slight discrepency concerning
the whereabouts of the LV garment bag...

Simpson secretary claims she doesn't know what happened to contents of
O.J. suitcase

By Michelle Caruso

New York Daily News

(KRT)

LOS ANGELES - O.J. Simpson's longtime secretary says she had no idea
what happened to the mysterious contents of a suitcase of his that she
and another Simpson friend spirited away the day after the murders of
Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

Testifying under oath in the wrongful death suit against Simpson,
Cathy Randa was asked Friday about the Louis Vuitton bag Simpson had
taken on his trip to Chicago the night of the murders.

Randa said she and Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian put the full
suitcase in the trunk of Kardashian's car and left Simpson's
Rockingham estate on June 13, 1994, the day after the slayings.

Under questioning by attorney Daniel Petrocelli, who represents
Goldman's family, Randa said on June 15, 1994, that she saw the empty
Vuitton bag in a closet in Kardashian's home in a bedroom where
Simpson was staying at the time.

Randa said she has no idea who unpacked the bag or what its contents
were. Kardashian, in a deposition last week, also denied knowledge of
the bag's contents or of who unpacked it.

The bag has been a source of mystery and intrigue since a few weeks
after the murders, when a Los Angeles TV station produced footage of
Randa and Kardashian whispering furtively, then grabbing the bag and
stuffing it into the trunk of Kardashian's car near the gate of
Simpson's estate.

The incident had gone undetected by Los Angeles police officers
standing just feet away from the pair as Simpson entered his estate
upon returning from Chicago the day after the killings.

When Simpson's lawyers later brought the Vuitton bag to court, it was
empty and its contents have never been accounted for, giving rise to
speculation that it might have contained potentially incriminating
evidence.

Petrocelli said Randa's testimony has been peppered with apparent
"memory losses." He said she professed to be unable to recall anything
about her first conversation with Simpson after the killings when she
and his longtime lawyer Leroy "Skip" Taft picked him up at the Los
Angeles airport and drove him to the Rockingham estate.

From Simpson's deposition:

Q: When is the next time you saw the suitcase. Louis Vuitton suitcase?

A: I don't -- I'm not sure. Maybe later that day or maybe the next
day. I'm just not sure.

Q: Did you ask anyone, "Hey, where's my suitcase?"

A: No.

Q: Later on that day when you were back at your Rockingham home-that
evening, I guess. Right?

A: Yes.

Q: --did ask you for your suitcase?

A: No.

Q: Ask to see it?

A: No.

Q: Did the police ask for it?

A: No.

Q: You don't know if it was at Kardashian's house or at the--at your
office. Is that what you're saying?

A: Or if he brought it back to my house that evening. I just don't
recall.

Q: Do you remember the next time you saw it?

A: No.

Q: Do you remember unpacking it?

A: No.

Q: Since that suitcase was taken out of Kardashian's car, that Louis
Vuitton case, did you ever see it again after that?

A: In court.

Q: That was the next time you saw it?

A: That I'm aware of, yes.

Q: And did you ever find out from any source what happened to your
suitcase after Kardashian took it?

A: No.

One wonders, if one were to speculate, whether the bag that was produced
in court (said to be found in the garage at Simpson's estate), the one
with the airline check tag that had a date of 6/13/94 instead of 6/12/94,
was the bag that Simpson actually carried to and from Chicago...

Isn't it amazing how the defense people continually have these "memory
losses" when it comes to incriminating evidence? I wish I could have such a
selective memory.

I think Randa is afraid OJ will beat her up if she doesn't give Pro-J
testimony. That woman has been frighteningly loyal throughout this
entire nightmare. OJ must have something big on her. Anyone know if she
has a husband who died under mysterious circumstances?

Reminds me of the Hilary parody sung to the tune of *try to remember*
in response to Whitewater questions:

I can't remember, my mind's in a blender, it's jello
jello, jello, jello....vt

Yes, I thought that was rather interesting also. Along with the
observation that his friends and family seem to avoid bringing up anything
about the murders around him.

I don't think I'd go that far but she appears to be what one might call
"fiercely loyal" to her boss. This is not all that unusual, I don't think,
it's the loyalty of a long term secretary/executive assistant in action.
Very close to what a spouse might be.

Believe me. The lady is an idiot. I had Randa's niece in my class over a
year ago, and the niece was trying to tell me these outragous things until I
finally had to say, "look, that's total bull." She had her facts so scewed,
she could be Pat Holley's wife, (well, that would be if Holley liked women
and ever got out of high school)

You know, I thought they let that messed-up date on the bag tag get
dismissed too easily in court. I travel a lot on business and I've never
had a tag be a day off. Just always seemed troubling to me. Airlines run
on dates and times (even if the flights are occassionally off <g>)
