I saw a piece in that cheesy periodical, TIME magazine. It showed
a graphic which was a flowchart of the management of the ficitonal
OJ Simpson Enterprises. The heads were Simpson and Nicole Brown.
Down below were several people who had cashed in on stories related
to the Simpson tragedy, inclduing Kato and the Defense lawyers.

It showed a LOT of people who made money they wouldn't have otherwise
made, on the prosecution and defense side.

Funny thing is.. and what I found a glaring omission was that there
was not one jot or tidle about Denise Brown's winnings.. er. earnings.
Nope. Not a one.

And thanx to the Geraldo Friend's Network.. er. I mean her appearances
on avrious talk shows she is making a bundle for the woman's help
group she happens to draw a paycheck from.

I saw a curious interview a couple of weeks ago that sparked suspicious
thoughts in my head. I think it was on CNN-it was with the lawyer that
the Brown family hired. She said that if OJ is acquitted, the Browns were
going to petition for custody of his children. It dawned on me that most
of Nicole's money (from the Bundy house, house in SF & settlement from
OJ) plus all of the monies that have been put in trust for the children
are probably inaccessible to the Browns unless they were the legal
permanent guardians of Sydney & Jason. I truly hope that this is not
their motives for the children's sake. I think they have been through
enough already-they shouldn't be put through a custody battle if OJ is
acquitted.

As a general rule if money is put in trust for someone, it is irrelevant
who the legal guardian is. Even if the Browns were to become the trustees,
they would not LEGALLY be able to siphon any money out of the trust for their
own use. Most often trusts for children are set up with explicit instructions
for the use of the money, mostly for their benefit only. Of course, this isn't
to say that it can't be done..
