For those of you who are longtime fans/friends of afn-g and remember
the Thingies who used to post here frequently, many of us have been
found on Facebook and have started a group there called Fingies. It's
usually fairly quiet, but when we have something to say to the group,
that's usually where we share it collectively.

Not the same thing as Usenet at all, but if you're missing the
collective, we're still around.

I let my usenet subscription lapse for two seconds and everyone goes
away. Ah well, I shall just have to do without Neil discussion.

It scares me that people consider Facebook groups (which are terrible) a
step up from Usenet (which, whilst a fairly esoteric method of
communication, is ace). There are so many places on the web to discuss
Neil already, but the only one on Usenet is now apparently on the
endangered species list.

Hello, by the way, I'm John! First book by Neil I read was his
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book, I was further tempted by Good
Omens and then American Gods sealed the deal. How are you?

Hey there.

I'm still on the lookout for stray posters entering the sandbox through
the gates of horn and ivory, even though it seldom happens. As for
Facebook, it does not have much more traffic than this place, but many
are on the lurk. BTW, did you mean Don't Panic? That was the first book
by Neil I read, as well. Hitchhiker is, of course, by Douglas Adams, may
he rest in peace, and I also love that. Have you checked out Neverwhere
and his comics yet? Read them all! It is so worth it. Except maybe if
you find a rare copy of that Duran Duran thing, which is only good for
embarrassing Neil with... :-)

Sweet Dreams!
