Upon perusing the Internet Movie Databse, the bio on Ross "Rommel"
Hagen has revealed, that, yes, that magnificent son of a bitch DID
write a book:

Crystal Carousel. 2d. ed. Lilly & Belote Publishers [The artist
formerly known as Leroy Lando Lilly self- published the book,
apparently] ISBN 0-927444-29-1 LCCN 89-002591 Reprint Revised (Date
Not Available). Illus. 66pg. Ed. Claire Hagen [the 2d Mrs. Hagen].
Illus. Stacie Elias. Intro. William Belote [the more silent half of
Lilly & Belote]

If soemone has this gem, could you fax the sewing patterns for the
white vinyl hat? Thanx.

PS: The acutal quote, from "Patton", was: "Rommel? I read his book,
that beautiful bastard."

My source was "You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet!" by John P. Fennel. I
qouted it wrong, too: "Rommel, you beautiful bastard, I read your
book." I'm sure you're right, but now I have to see the movie again.

Just think: the first sentence ever uttered in a talkie was a double
negative, in a movie created by the embryo that morphed the monster
Time-Warner.

Soldier: Just watch out for runaway Italian fruit carts, sir.

Reporter: Where are you off to next, General?
Patton: Malta.
Reporter: Will you be slapping any soldiers there?

Patton: An *entire* *world* at *war*!! And *I'm* left out?!?!?! God
will *not* permit this to happen!!!

Patton: Listen, Beetle, Ike doesn't have to know about this. But, you
give me 3 divisions and 48 hours and I'll have a war with those sons a
bitches and make it look like their fault.

Lewis: That was nice. Who was it?
Morse: *That* was Maria Callas
Lewis: Was that from _Cats_?
Morse: No! It was most certainly *not*!
