When "LOB" came out, I was quite the "Holy Roller" but still enjoyed the movie
as I "got" the joke. Actually, it's fairly historically accurate, as the times
were calling for a messiah of some sort, political or otherwise. Brian's
"disciples" just got it wrong, that's all.
Nothing offensive at all about it, really. Well, /maybe/ the "Full Monty"
shot.....

Yes, times have not really changed.
Many people who have no idea what LOB was really about are still very much
against it (of course without having seen it, because knowledge is the enemy
of primitive thought).
The main difference between genius and stupidity is that stupidity has no
limits.
