Whats the name of this Monty Python character?

I'm a kind of new fan to the FLYING CIRCUS, I've mostly just seen the
movies, but still have afew that I haven't seen.

But whats the name of the character who wears goggles and smashes bricks
together? And who plays him, I can't tell. I think its Graham Chapman, but
I'm not positive.

Does he also wear a handkerchief [1] and suspenders? That
is Mr. Gumby and variations on the character are usually called
"Gumbies".


[1] I seen these in other British contexts where it obviously
wasn't a joke but just a normal custom. I'm not sure what the
purpose is, but it seems to have something to do with sweaty work.
