More Ripping Yarns only has 3 episodes 'cause they ran out of money.

Around The World in 80 Days - 7 episodes, I think.
Also look out for Pole To Pole With Michael Palin, which has just been
shown over here.

There are also a number of videos brought out by them (while we're
on the subject) that, as far as I know, were never released in the
cinema. The only ones I can think of now are:
How to irritate people (all the crew... both original
sketches, and a few from the
series)
20 years of Python (I think that's the name... hosted
by Steve Martin)
Parrot Sketch not incl. (mainly sketches)
MPFC (Vids of the series. To the 3rd series)

As mentioned in another post, Cleese was also in Romance with a
double bass. I'm pretty sure there's another, but I can't think of
it.

You're missing Nuns on the Run with Idle and
Romance With A Double Bass with Cleese.
And Cleese also appears in one of the Muppet movies.

There were also 2 special Python shows produced for German
TV you should list.
Ripping Yarns is a total of 9 shows:
Ripping Yarns
More Ripping Yarns
Even More Ripping Yarns

Just so you know.

John Cleese also was in a version of Taming of the Shrew (as in Shakespeare) with Elizabeth Taylor (I think)... I'm not sure what year it was put out... I saw it at High School in English class... It was pretty good figuring it WAS Shakespeare...

Also you might want to add to your collection the plethora of commercials Cleese has done:
Schweppes Ginger Ale
Magnavox (I think) with the many Cleeses...
and many other good commercials

He was also in a Party Political Broadcast for the Social Democrat/
Liberal alliance. Quite funny, really.
+ Eric Idle played the lord high executioner in a BBC version of
'The Mikado'...
+ Michael Palin did a very long BBC TV series a few years ago

Best performance of "Taming of the shrew" I ever saw. As if ol' Bill had
written the part especially for Mr. Cleese...

Back to the original question:

Add to the list of series:

Nearly Departed Eric Idle

I know it's a sad excuse for a comedy (what would you expect from an USAn
sitcom?); the only thing I find really funny about it is that Mr. Idle
took the part in the first place.

Actually, He one host of many hosts. The series was called
"Great Railways" where the host took a trip on an especially interesting
railway. In the episode that Michael Palin appeared he was travelling to a
town in Scotland whose station was replacing the sign and he was going up there

The Arts and Entertainment network here in the U.S. is showing
another Palin-hosted travel program, called Pole to Pole. The
idea is (exactly what the title implies) that Palin will travel
from one pole to the other using whatever means available. I
got to see most of the first part, in which he started at the
North Pole and worked his way down to, I think, the Caspian Sea
...??...well, anyway. It was pretty funny here and there, and
especially funny was a meal Palin shared with a Ukrainian
artist during which he (Palin) imbibed rather too much of the
Ukrainian fellow's home-brewed vodka, while attempting to eat
crayfish.

Anyone else seen this and care to comment?

Cleese was certainly in a version of Taming of the Shrew but it was a version
for British television and most certainly not the 1967 Taylor/Burton film!

I presume that a list of the original television series on video has not
been included in these numerous "filmographies" because it would be too
obvious, but could anyone tell me exactly how many tapes there are, and
whether all the television programmes are now on tape?

I would also be interested in a discography - a list of all the RECORDS - and
a bibliography, at least of the collective Python projects. I've got the
hardback anthology, and the Television and Life of Brian scripts - are there
any more books beside the "Meaning of Life" and "Holy Grail" scripts?

Richard.

About this thread. What exactly are we compiling? It seems to be a
list of all film, and TV proggies that any one of the Pythons ever
even had a bit-part in.

I think it should just be Films by Python, and those directed /
staring Pythonites. The same with TV shows.. it's rediculous to
include Cheers, just because Cleese had a small part in one episode!
OK, so the Schweppes commercials MIGHT count, but most of the stuff
is ridiculous!

MNSsio the annoyed, coz he had a project due for 40 mins time, and
