Didn't Mike accuse Lucas of stealing the idea for Darth Vader from his
"man in the black cape" short film? Well, at least Lucas had the
decency to alter the idea a *little*. OTOH, maybe they both saw a
repeat on TV of a 1931 Rin Tin Tin as children and it was stored in
their subconscience.

You be the judge:

Oh, my bad. Mike's guy has a squared-off hat. They're not similar at
all:

Thanks for helping keep Usenet alive with some good old-fashioned
trolling.

It's not an issue. I'm not into the current internet fad of scrounging
up increasingly tenuous examples of supposed 'plagiarism' to naively
nerd-copyright-rage over, so I have no interest in your amazing
discovery that a bad guy character with a cloak and a hat has been
depicted by more than one person in the history of film.

Like I said, nice trolling. Extra points for such a niche subject and
venue.

Nah, they're all recycling the tale of Haman, the King's
advisor who wanted kill all the Jews back during
the time of Mordechai and Queen Esther.

(The "Book of Purim")

Haman wore a three pointed black hat, hence the
traditional eating of "hamantashan", a three
pointed pastry with a dark center (chocoalte or
similar) during the holiday.
