...but only in that case wherein NEITHER party knows the recording is
in progress. If either side (note: NOT both!) knows what is going on, then
it is kosher.
This is assuming no changes in the law in the last year or so, and no
additional state laws I don't happen to know about which directly address
the issue.

I have yet to receive any comments about the TRUE story behind TWOSAT. There
was one post which said he had an "evil" producer, but I already knew that.
What I would like to know, from someone who knows the truth, is what the
producer DID. What happened?

Saying that "the producer screwed Jittlov" doesn't answer what I would like to
know!

Thanks in advance....!

According to Jittlov himself at his MIT lectures, Richard Kaye (said evil
producer) did:

1) took out a $1,000,000 life insurance policy out on Jittlov, without Mike's
permission OR knowledge.
2) stole over $100,000 out of their production company for personal expenses
(alimony, etc.)
3) improperly signed over all rights to TWoSaT to Shapiro-Glickenhaus
*in perpetuity*
4) made a merchandising deal without Jittlov's permission - so most of those
WOSAT T-shirts and buttons earn nothing for Mike.
5) refused to give out tapes of the movie to the actors who wanted them for
audition purposes - Jittlov specifically mentioned Paige Moore (Cindy
[what was her last name?]) was refused a copy of her performance.
6) made a placement deal with pepsi behind Jittlov's back. In revenge,
pepsi is only in the scenes that Richard Kaye (the Evil Producer) appears
in.
7) generally did not act like a nice guy, cf. 'the tape' that is played by
Jittlov at lectures and to some callers. Though the playing of that tape

bothers me IMMENSELY since
a) recording a phone conversation is illegal

b) Jittlov admits it is edited
I realize Jittlov (justifiably) feels screwed, but he could get into big
legal hot water over this tape.

Jittlov also said that he has spoken to a bunch of lawyers who tell him that
he has a good case against Kaye, but that it will:
a) take $75,000
b) take 3+ years
c) Jittlov says Kaye is set to skip the US if he loses such a lawsuit.

Regarding sending him money, at the MIT lecture, Jittlov STRONGLY said
1) don't send him money for the pirated tapes
2) he said he didn't want donations in general.

(though #2 seems to clash a bit with one of the subliminals in the Wizard
run sequence - "The journey of ten thousand miles starts with a single
donation." well, that's what I saw in freeze-frame, anyway :)

If anyone who saw Jittlov at MIT or elsewhere has any corrections/additions to
this, post'em!

I assume that this is an audio tape where Mike's producer reveals himself to
be a real scum sucker. What exactly is on the tape?

> a) recording a phone conversation is illegal
That depends on what state you're in. I believe that in Texas, as long as one
person knows that the conversation is being recorded, and that both callers are
physically in Texas, it is legal, and even admissable as evidence... I have no
idea what the laws would be like where Mike lives, though.

> b) Jittlov admits it is edited
I don't think that would have any effect on the legality. And considering all
the other items you listed against the "evil producer", the tape was probably
edited to make it sound LESS offensive...

If he's been playing at lectures all over and hasn't been petitioned yet to
go to court, I doubt he'll get into any trouble over it. But then, what do I
know...

There was a beat-up VW van with a "Just Say Sho' To Drugs" bumper sticker
parked next to my ultra-cool black '65 Stingray Corvette with sheepskin seat
covers. I promptly planted a kilo of C-4 underneath its gas tank and once back
on University Avenue, detonated it, reducing the van and everything nearby into
a pile of charred scrap. Nobody parks piece-of-shit cars next to my wheels.

Actually it *is* legal to tape a phone conversation if any ONE of the parties
involoved knows about it. It's not right, but it is legal.

I saw him speak at the SCI/FI film marathon here a while back, and
another thing that he mentioned was that Richard Kaye told all of the
actors, actresses, and extras to go home before they were finished
with the film. Mike wanted them all to be in the theatre in the final
scene of the movie, but had to use other people instead. He seemed
very upset by this, and felt that the entire meaning of the movie had
been corrupted.
