I was privileged (forced) to go to (the nth remake of) "Alvin and the
Chipmunks" with my son recently. I was surprised. Not only was it
better than I feared, it had a strangely WOSAT feel to it.

Notice:
- The frustrated creative.
- The evil producer.
- The motivation of attraction to the girl.
- building things by hand (with LEDs)
- presence of various authorities taking his money
- the Hollywood sign
and more

anyone else think so?

You are a sick man.

Seriously, though -- it was a painful movie to watch (took my kids and they
loved it). The only thing that made it worth it were the few bits of humor
(in particular the "raisin on the sofa" bit).

Yes, well, saying that it was better than I FEARED, isn't necessarily
much of a complement. I did have to muddle through as best I could.
The 20-minute business call from a client was a pretty easy choice
(not kidding). That I was seeing WOSAT parallels tells you something.

While my son did like it (he loves slapstick and ... raisin jokes) I'm
not suggesting that anyone go out of their way to see the movie. But,
if you're some coerced into it, or are bored and find it in a cheap
rental, or just happen to walk into it while lost in a theater after
sneaking out of the documentary on sponge migration, you might see if
you notice WOSAT similarities.

I was thinking that the WOSAT-feel could be that the people really
doing the work were having to be as creative as possible to make
something decent come together despite ... forces to the contrary.
(Or maybe they were influenced by the work of a certain green wizard.)

I was kinda hoping to skip '08. OK to see you in '09? My trustee
Einstein-Rosen bridge is ready for its dose of diamagnetic exotic
matter and '09 here I come (well, somewhere and somewhen anyway. As
long as there's air.)

Nothing much for a registered independent to vote on in Florida this
year (oooh, except an amendment on cutting our own property taxes. No
point in wondering how this place will vote on that! FL constitution
must have more stitches than Frankenstein's monster by now.)

Hope the food was good! Sorry I couldn't be there.

I *AM* from Alabama! What are you implying? (I meant to put that
in the last post, but parental duty distracted me and I forgot.)

What does an Obama poem have to do with Mike Jittlov, WOSAT, or even
Alvin anyway? (Rhetorical!) If he can pronounce "nuclear", at least
he'll one more qualification than the current guy. (I wonder what
Gharlane would have said about the current guy.)

Yes, good point. I lost control for a moment. Thankfully, I suspect
this fellow is more like a spammer, not an actual troll.
