Melissa Joan Hart is using her experience of being raised on the East Coast
as the oldest of seven siblings to help her be a better parent to sons
Mason Walter, 2 ½, and Braydon 'Brady' Hart, 5 ½ months. The actress tells
TastyBaby, that "I'm trying my best to do everything my parents did for us,
while also using the past as a learning device," but Melissa is the first
to admit that "things have changed a lot since I was a kid and I am
applying that with my morals and traditions that I was raised with."
Melissa explains that she and husband Mark Wilkerson have formed with their
boys, "going to Disneyland on a birthday." However, "if we move back east,
that one may be tough to keep up, but maybe we can do a birthday trip in
February between their birthdays."

One thing that stands out to the 32-year-old is that before she had kids,
she "always made my family come first and now I have my own little family
to care for. I believe helping them become incredible adults is my biggest
job now." In helping to accomplish that, Melissa is familiar with
environmentally friendly products and tries to be green, but admits that
"it is so difficult with kids."

"I think about it all the time, but with kids you want everything easy and
clean and sometimes disposable stuff is the way to go. But other times, you
can sacrifice a little time or effort to make the planet a better place for
them."

The former Sabrina the Teenage Witch star explained that "I have been
looking for a hobby my whole life but haven't been able to find one," and
that is something that she doesn't want for her sons. Instead, she "want[s]
them to try a little of everything and pick what they like when they are
older." To accomplish that, she and Mark spend time with each of the boys
doing something different, which also helps to keep everyone healthy and
active.

"Some days me and Mason take classes like art or music together, almost
everyday we go for a family walk, or to the park. We play a lot in the back
yard with the dogs, but we are always moving."
