How about this . . . . . . . In 1997, Ireland's President Mary McAleese (a
catholic) received communion in a Protestant church. The Dean of this
church is Rev'd John Paterson. This caused much controversy in the Catholic
church.

This is an article excerpt . . . . .

"During an ecumenical service held in the Protestant Christ Church
Cathedral, Dublin, on 7th December 1997, Ireland's recently elected
President, Mary McAleese, her husband and two daughters, all received
communion from the hands of a Protestant Church of Ireland Priest. This
apparently gracious action immediately provoked strong reactions from
Ireland's leading churchmen. The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin,
Desmond Connell, in an interview on Radio Ireland, found it necessary to
remind his flock that "under no circumstances" was it permissible for a
Roman Catholic to receive communion from a Protestant. . . . . . . .

This is from the letterhead of the Christ Church Dublin . . . .

The Very Rev'd John Paterson
The Dean of Christ Church
The Deanery,
Saint Werburgh Street,
Dublin 8,
Ireland.
