Remember the series: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and me asking which could be
divided evenly by 2? All of them can! Take 7 for example, it can be divided
into two equal halves of 3.5.

Since AOL is acting up on me today, I assume this post was placed before
Helen's answer.

My ISP is being very persnickity today! I've been e-mail challenged all day.
I'll see if it has cleared up.

My mail and news is continually fried, it seems.
It started a few weeks ago, and has been getting worse.
Would starting over with Windows'98 help? Or would
I be getting another headache by having to redo address
books and bookmarks? Just curious- and tired of this! :-)

If you install Windows 98 over Windows 95, you won't lose your settings or
bookmarks. If you want to keep your bookmarks and install a fresh copy of
Windows 98:

Open your Windows Explorer (Start, Programs, Windows Explorer)
Click on the Windows folder.
Inside the Windows folder you will see a folder called Favorites.
Copy the Favorites folder to a floppy disk.

After you install Windows 98, put the floppy disk back in the a: drive
Go into Windows Explorer
Copy the folder from the a: drive to the Windows folder. Don't copy to the
Favorites folder as you will end up with a Favorites folder inside your
Favorites folder!

Easy, no?

Bryan's right. I've gone through three different versions of Windows, five
different modems from 14.4 to 56k, ten, count them, ten Internet providers
in the last few years and I'm still having problems with email, news
postings and connections to the Internet.

Also, if you have less than 32 mb of RAM, you will find that Win98 will make
your machine slower. Win98 runs better when you have 32 mb and above. Also
you need at least 400 mb of free disc space just to install Win98.

Sorry to open this can of worms on you, Miracle, but it's better you know
now :)

Changing your operating system will not make any difference to your ISP. Now,
if you can get your ISP to reload THEIR operating system....hmmm.....

Just because there have been problems with your computer doesn't always mean
the problem is on your end.

I don't think it's a software problem. Sounds like the people providing the
service are at fault. It could be that more and more people are getting
online and are overloading the equipment. I have been having problems now for
the past few weeks. A friend of mine told me that only 1% of the US uses the
internet. More coming on line everyday.

That makes sense. I have seen lots of new Prodigy commercials,
so it follows that they have increased their subscriber numbers.
More people, more traffic, eh?
