<<Does anyone know the name of the song that Mandy sang whilst visiting
his 'wife' in the Asylum during the first series of Chicago.

I think it may have been 'And the band played on' but I'm not sure and I
have been
unable to find a full version on any of his recordings.......Help!!
>>

He sang part of the "Casey Medley" (which includes "And the Band Played On")
during the Christmas concert, as well as "I Dreamed a Dream" (from Les
Miserables) in another episode when he visited her. Both of these are on CD
recordings by Mandy Patinkin. (The first is on "Mandy Patinkin", the second on
"Experiment.)

"casey would waltz with the strawberry blonde, and the band played
on..." it's on one of his albums, but it's actually mixed together in a
medley with a couple of other fragments. Great.

He also sang "Coffee in a Cardboard Cup" at the asylum, but you would
probably have recognized that when you heard it from his signature album.

Yes, it is '...and the band played on', also known as Casey and it is part of a
medley of tunes that appears on his first solo CD 'mandy patinkin' (black cover
with his face (part in light, part in dark). It's a great CD and one of my
favorites his. There are some great renditions of some tunes from 'into the
woods' and of course his trademark 'over the rainblow'. Enjoy

start delving. You'll find a lot of his material is anything but
calming. In addition to calming, he has been known to belt, cry, moan,
shriek, yell, squeak, bark, um, toot, tap...
