Madonna is the MOST successful female artist in history. Damnit

There has a lot of debate of who is more successful globally Madonna or Mariah.
I hope we are truly objective at look for the facts. Madonna is my fav singer
in the world but I like Mariah too. I am only decussing charts, sales, and
reacords not qulity of singing which is impossible to quantify ( For the
reacord I like Madonna better anyway). Here is my side of the arguement
comments and questions are welcome as always.

While I do realize that Mariah as a international successful female atrist
everyone must realize that Mariah is not really closing in on Madonna the way
some on this message board imply. Mariah has had more success, gobally, in the
geginning of the 90's rather than now. I think Celine is a bigger theart to
Madonna than Mariah is. Remember I am trying to make the case for Madonna's
INTERNATIONAL success which is more important than her success in one
particular country. With that said looking at Madonna's chart history from
country to country one will come to conclude that Madonna has been and
continues to be a consistant hit maker all across the world. She is listed as
the most successful female artist in history in the Gueniss Book of World
Reacords. The US is where Mariah is the most successful for Madonna you must
look to Europe, Asia and Canada and other places in the world that have a
lively music market to totally realize her impact. Yes Mariah has more #1
songs than Madonna in the US but Madonna has more top 2, top 5, top 10, most
gold singles by a female artist, and most consecutive top 5 singles by a
artist; female, male, or group. Besides one can agrue that the US is just one
country. Just look at all the #1's Madonna has in other countries (she has 13
in Canada, 7 in the UK) these are all major musical markets where Madonna is
still domonating with ROL. Right now POG is #2 on the Eurochart when has
Mariah had this level of INTERNATIONAL success?? I mean True Blue topped the
charts in 28 diferent countries and sold over 20 million copies. No doubt,
Madonna has a phenomal chart reacord. Never ever underestimate Madonna's
international success. You will be making a grave mistake.

Madonna will endure a lot linger than Mariah (she already has). In any event
Madonna's internatioal success speaks for itself. Madonna is the MOST
successful female atrist in history and right now no one is close to taking
that from her not Janet, not Celine, not Whitney, and not Mariah. Evan during
the so-called Erotica period when she was not extremly successful in the US she
was topping the charts in OTHER countries. Bottom line is that Madonna is the
most successful female artist in history. Period. End of sentence.

Hi.

I completely agree, if you mention Mariah Carey as being almost as
popular as Madonna in the UK, people would laugh at you. Internationally
Madonna's only competition is Celine Dion and with her due to take a
break next year, it doesn't look like the competition will continue for
much longer. Another thing to consider is that Madonna's career is
naturally going to begin to slow down, she is older now, a mother and no
matter what she does is an international-household-name, much like
Marilyn Monroe. In the UK Mariah just never caught on and I can see why.
