Story: "Homecoming" and "The Long Path"

we have been having a lot of new people on this list, so I feel like
introducing my fanfics to you who haven't been reading them yet.
"Homecoming" (HC) and "The Long Path" (TLP) are based upon The Lion
King, certainly, and on a documentary series called "The Shingalana
Chronicles". It tells the story of a lioness cub, Shingalana, taht was
abandoned by her mother and finally was raised by the animal filmer John
Varty. Tragically Shingi died in the 27th month of her life while she
was on the best way to get accepted by a wild lion's pride. However,
this heartwrenchingly cute, always gentle and loving lioness got a place
in my heart forever, that's why in the end HC and TLP came to be. They
tell the story what happened if Shingi survived and got taken into the
Pridelands' pride.
The first part, Homecoming, was mainly written by me and Dave Morris,
and TLP was written by me and John Burkitt. Forgive me for listing my
name in them first, not meant to lessen my friend's efforts to get the
stories come to be, but I feel like Shingi was a friend of mine that
died... Homecoming was also written to be a sequel to "The Lion King",
that's why I have to go over to a general statement about the HC/TLP
storyline:
HOMECOMING and THE LONG PATH have never been designed to be CANON with
"Simba's Pride". Reading Homecoming you will realise it is not possible
to make it canon. Dave M. and I began writing Homecoming back in
November 1996, in the 'good old times', when there were only the first
two parts of the "Chronicles" series, Chris Boyce's "Pridelands" and
"The Tales of Tanabi", but that's about it-more or less. These days we
could not foresee what Disney was planning for SP, nor could we know if
there will ever be a second Lion King movie or a musical.
Nonetheless, PLEASE read Homecoming and The Long Path, three people put
a lot of work in them, and perhaps you find our vision on how TLK went
on even better than Disney's SP.
