I read from a Feng Shui book that placing things here and there but in order
for it to work.. using a red string according to a certain length and tie it
around. Anyone know if this is true or a realistic approach? What is the
true nature of this red string? Anyone?

I've never read anything about specific length before, but red is an
auspicious colour.
