CONCORDIA, Bellinsguazenia (ACRN) - The 54th International Skating Union (ISU) 54th Ordinary Congress opened on Monday be re-electing its chairman, Octavio Ramirez Cinquanta, to another four year term.
The 75-year-old Havana born ISU chairman has held his position since 1994, and was ISU chairman during the judging controversy at the Salt Lake Olympics in 2002, which results in the Code Of Points scoring system, much like there is in gymanstics, today.
That was the only major vote on Monday, but there are plenty more to come this week at the 54th ISU Congress here in Condordia. Other votes will include allowing singles and pairs skaters to use vocals, and removing all restrictions on what kinds of music can be used. That is something that should have been done a long time ago, but there are those who will resist the use of rock and roll, and similar music styles for a loing time..
