The results are in! The winners are a known quantity. And pies are
delicious. As always.

On the show tonight, Dorothy unveiled two pies: Pumpkin and Raspberry
Chiffon. This provided us with a clear winner who was the only one to
name both pies: SWOhio Bob. He will receive all the benefits of a
choice of fabulous pie to be baked and shipped by Traci, and primary
bragging rights for the coming year. He may use the title "AFL Dave's
Mom's Thanksgiving Pie Thanksgiving-Pie-Guessing Grand Champion 2009"
whenever he chooses to use it.

While the number of Pie Utterances during the show was calibrated at
25, this was not needed as a tie-breaking factoid. However, two
entries pinned that number to the corkboard. Congratulations, Ron Munn
and Maureen Hurley. The full glory that only an Honorable Mention can
provide is theirs to lay claim to.

Next, the Pie Committee turned to the Pie Machine 314159 to bake
virtual pies that would determine another winner. First it baked ten
pies, which did not put any entries over the magic line of 50 points.
Then it baked ten more virtual pies and generated a quantity of
virtual pie utterances, which the Pie Committee can attest to having
been actually uttered in a creepy-cute manner. This wave of data
produced another clear winner: Laura (aka Maybeso) had selected three
of those 20 pies for a decisive 60 points. Her point-worthy pies were
Strawberry, Cranberry Velvet, and Sour Cream Apple. She will receive
the Moon Pie prize and the rights to call herself "AFL Dave's Mom's
Virtual Pie Virtual-Pie-Guessing Champion 2009".

Three runner ups, with 40 points (two pie hits) were Incubus, Tom
Cronin, and Don Giller. The Pie Machine uttered pie 248 times, which
was the precise number chosen by Shirlee/Foxyscribe, an achievement
worthy of one of those keenly sought Honorable Mentions.

The rest of you, at least those of you who bothered to enter, can say
this of yourself. I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and I'm the "AFL
Dave's Mom's Thanksgiving Pie Thanksgiving-Pie-Guessing Miss
Congeniality 2009".

That's it for another year, at least until we get a pie arrival report
in Traci's Pie Prize Wonderland: http://www.pieprizewonderland.info

Congratulations to SWOhio Bob and Maybeso.

I'll have video of the festivities posted in a day or two. (It's not
possible to upload over the dial-up. In fact, my phone is barely
suitable for voice calls, let alone data; it kept crapping out during
the conference call, as Traci and James can attest.)

I saw that when James listed the entries in order received and was
quite surprised at that too! I had no idea but I guess, it paid off
being first for the virtual portion of the contest1

Maybe...happy tonight! (for a change!)

If you want to play along with a few of the sound effects that appear
in that festivities video, go to the sound effects soundboard on this
site:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/18724672/

For other sounds, you'll need to get hold of your own damn Pie
Machine
314159.

The Pie Machine uttered pie 248 times, which
was the precise number chosen by Shirlee/Foxyscribe, an achievement
worthy of one of those keenly sought Honorable Mentions.

I wish I knew how I DID that!!! Wow!!!
P.S. Dorothy looked in great health last night - she is a national
treasure.

Congrats to Bob and Laura--- couldn't hope for two nicer people to be
this year's Big Winners.

Congrats to you all!
You're all winners, but BOB will love the Traci-baked pie!

Looking forward to listening to the conference call and Pie

Dorothy has some Parkinsons symptoms. It's been apparent with her
hands in recent visits. I think that's why we saw her keeping her
right hand in her apron pocket most of the time last night.

Yes, she is a national treasure, and anyone would be proud to have
someone so nice as their mom.

By the way, while I lost in the pie guessing contest fair and square
yesterday, I'd just like to report that when celebrating Thanksgiving
in Overland Park, Kansas at my sister's today, I was served both of my
Dave's Mom guesses, pumpkin and chocolate chiffon!
