Salonga brings beautiful sounds to Venue

Filipino singer Lea Salonga entertained a full house Saturday at The
Venue at Hammond's Horseshoe Casino.
Salonga, the voice of Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan, delivered a
variety of Broadway musical numbers as well as standards from the
Great American Songbook. She also shared jokes and stories with the
largely Asian crowd and sang a couple of her Filipino hits.
Salonga's vocals remained strong throughout the concert as she offered
pleasant renditions of songs such as "Someone to Watch Over Me" and
"Something's Coming."
Highlights included an extended version of "Reflection" from "Mulan,
"A Whole New World" from "Aladdin," and "Gone Too Soon," a tribute to
Michael Jackson.
Salonga, who starred in "Miss Saigon," and "Les Miserables," also
performed a poignant rendition of "I Dared to Dream," from "Les
