Lea Salonga or Martin Nievera to sing the National Anthem in Pacquiao-
Hatton
Thursday, March 26, 2009
Los Angeles, California - Its either Miss Lea Salonga or Mr. Martin
Nievera, will sing the Philippine National Anthem in the upcoming
Pacquiao-Hatton fight in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 3, 2009 [Philippine
Time]. According to Nap Alip of Bulgar, Lea Salonga leads Martin
Nievera. Why? Its because Manny Pacquiao's personal choice is Lea
Salonga.
Anyway, Manny's training for his fight with Hatton continues after a
very controversial rift involving him in connection with the media
rights of his fight that sparked another tension between the two giant
networks, ABS-CBN and GMA Network. We also received a report that
Manny Pacquiao was a little irked with the ABS-CBN team covering his
training headed by Miss Dyan Castillejo. In the report of TJ Manotoc
aired a day ago in TV Patrol, they showed a video where Manny and
friends entered and closed the gym for a training, leaving Castillejo
and friends outside, and waiting. Ouch!
Meanwhile, a lot of negative write-ups are now circulating, and
hitting Pacquiao like a warm stool. A lot of fans and press people
were dissapointed at Pacquiao even if the issue is already settled.
Why, why why..
Here's another article regarding the choice of who gets to sing the
Philippine national anthem at the Pacman fight on Saturday, May 2.
I vote Lea Salonga! =D

Article:
Martin will sing RP anthem in Pacquiao-Hatton
By Roy Luarca
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Posted date: April 06, 2009
MANILA, Philippines - Singer Martin Nievera has been picked to sing
the national anthem during the much-awaited Manny Pacquiao-Ricky
Hatton showdown on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nievera will be the first-ever male singer to make the rendition in a
Pacquiao fight in the United States.
Pacquiao, himself a recording artist, selected Nievera from a short
list of candidates that reportedly included international singing
sensations Lea Salonga and Charice Pempengco.
Interestingly, Nievera comes from the talent pool of ABS-CBN, the
fierce network rival of GMA-7 which will telecast the Pacquiao-Hatton
clash and where the Filipino boxing superstar has two shows.
Nievera follows in the footsteps of Karylle, Ciara Sotto, Kyla, Lani
Misalucha, Bituin Escalante, Geneva Cruz, Sarah Geronimo and Jennifer
Bautista.
Meanwhile, newly crowned World Boxing Council and World Boxing
Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley said he wants
either Pacquiao or Hatton to be his next opponent.
The unbeaten American (24-0 with 11 knockouts) bucked two knockdowns
to beat Kendall Holt by unanimous decision in Montreal, Canada, on
Saturday.
“I want the big dogs,” Bradley told EastSideBoxing after the post-
fight conference. “I want the winner of Hatton-Pacquiao, definitely.
If I can’t get them, I want [Juan Manuel] Marquez. I want to be the
star of the [light-welterweight] division.”
Though not a big puncher, the 25-year-old Bradley is sneaky and
crafty. He also showed remarkable recuperative powers against Holt,
who decked him with a powerful left hook in the first round and again
in the 12th round.
In-between, however, Bradley was dominant to earn the judges’ nod.

Yeah, too bad.. :( I really thought Manny Pacquiao would go with
Lea...
Hopefully next time.
I had a strong feeling that Lea would be chosen, too, but I guess my
gut was wrong this time.
Oh well...next time nalang.
