I found a garage a while ago in Peters Green, Luton. 1. Has
anybody dealt with this lot before, and 2. are the following
prices good, bad or average. I would value you opinions....

Gearlever for SII/IIA - £15
LWB Rim & Fairly worn out 7.5x16 - £25/£30
Sliding Window - £10

Thanx

I had the rear shackle mounts replaced, new front chassis legs plus loads of
other chassis welding done, new railko bushes, new front wheel bearings and
an MOT done there a couple of months ago.

I was very impressed with the cost, quality and service, would definatley
use them again. And they're nearby (I'm in Stevenage)

Regards,

Andrew Buckle

Believe it's called Oak Tree Garage - or used to be years ago - my
recollections of the place go back to the mid 70's. Used to be run by John
Saxby who was still there last time I called a couple years back. Never had any
work done there as do it all myself but has been a source of the odd cheap s/h
part in years gone by.

There a quote a few landy garages nr stevenage/Welwyn garden city.

Mr 4x4 in Codicote is a one man band but he seems to do pretty good
work and uses decent parts.

There's also one out in the stocks (Oaktree?) with an awful lot of
broken landies, but the prices weren't too wonderful last time I went
(though I was wering a shirt and tie so I probably got the townie
price)

That's the one. Absolutely loads of landies in various states of
decay. I got a front prop for 30 quid and some bits for some FWHs

The state of the workshop didn't inspire confidence in their work (not
exactly sparkling), but I haven't had anything done there, so it's
just an impression.

If John Saxby is in his 50s, I believe that he is now Mrs John Saxby.

If you ever go there, phone for directions first as you will never
find it.

I never understood why he demolished the old garage buildings proper and then
built that wooden affair to the side?

Ah ...hmmmm had heard from one or two people that something of a 'change' had
occured there!

Yes it is a bit out in the sticks and it's suprising that he / she has managed
to keep the place going.

Steve, now in Suffolk

ummmm, could be. There's an MOT centre next to them. They are based in
the yard of Royton Express.

I got some service parts of them last year and they also dug out a scrap
dizzie for my 3.9 although I later found it was for a 3.5 (different springs
only I believe) ( I should have checked i know) anyway the service parts
were cheaper than expr fact in luton and thats where they got them!
