My 89 Range 3.9 never stops heating. Although the temperatur lever is
completely on the left (cold) side, there comes warm to hot air . I have
to turn on the air condition to survive ;) at the moment.

Any ideas?

I have no idea what causes the heat to always come out. My heater fan is
broken on my 89 3.9. Do you get enough heat in the winter to survive without
turning the fan on? How many miles on your Range? Have you had good luck
with it?

The leaver actuates a flap (switching between heated and non heated air or a
mixture) inside the heater box via a cable, it sounds to me like either one
of the links has become disconnected or the cable has broken.
Hope this helps,

But I am basically able to regulate the temperature from really hot (on
the right) to warm (on the left) Maybe there is some dirt in the flap
which prevents it from closing completely?
Where is this flap located exactly?

Never tried to, but for sure while driving because the air gets
"pressed" in the cabin.
It has 136k km´s on it. Basically I am very happy with it. If it is not
grilling me ;-)

I'm not 100% sure how the flap is located on the RR but it will be inside
the heater box along with the heater matrix I would imagine, if you can vary
the heat slightly then it sounds like the cable grip has slipped so that it
does not have a full range of travel. It could have slipped either on the
back of the dashboard leaver mechanism or where it joins the heater box. On
a defender the cable is situated on the outside of the heater box and the
cable and sheath grip can both be adjusted.

Hm, I will see.

Interesting is that there is "click"-sound when I pull the lever
completely to the left (cold) as if there would be a microswitch. is
there an, does anybody know, probably for the air condition?

My defender adjuster clicks at each end of the scale too, it's just the
mechanism gently latching I believe, no microswitch.
