A little history for you ~story~ buffs: (Donald Trump sees people as "Killers or Losers.")

....Or why it's important to prise out the cult tactics in ordinary political machinations. Or why they tolerate cults as open air petri dishes for the study of human manipulation. Or how cultic influence permeates common top-down social control. Or "How corporations hired ministers to spread "free enterprise."

"Kruse's book investigates how the idea of America as a Christian nation was promoted in the 1930s and '40s when industrialists and business lobbies, chafing against the government regulations of the New Deal, recruited and funded conservative clergy to preach faith, freedom and free enterprise. He says this conflation of Christianity and capitalism moved to center stage in the '50s under Eisenhower's watch."

Older-established societies have had a chance to sort out the issues of religion(s) and the State - whether they involve a fairly monolithic single faith tradition (like Sweden) or plural religious elements (France, Russia). These upstarts from circa the 18th century (the Wahabist Saudi state, the much-infiltrated United States of America) still need to evolve a modus vivendi between secular and religious ideas. Maybe they'll make it some day.
