>Hey, I'd be happy to buy the dvd when it comes out.
I didn't click through to the article but is it some sort of plea for
funding for the 'Do It Again' movie? I don't understand -- the movie
is all done, and in circulation, albeit in film festivals and
alternative cinemas, but that still counts.
It's well worth seeing. It is NOT a Kinks documentary ... far from it.
It's a story about someone changing his mind about something important
to him. Geoff Edgers takes a journey in the movie, and his destination
is respect for the point of view of one particular member of the
Kinks.
When I saw the movie, a couple of weeks ago here on Cape Cod, during
the Q&A Geoff mentioned his negotiations with Kate, Dave's girlfriend
and personal manager. Kate asked him: "Are you a Dave man or a Ray
man?" Geoff said he was both. But I think he lied to her. Geoff never
went to see Dave perform when he was touring solo. (Well, maybe he saw
him once.) This brands him, to my thinking, as a "Ray man."
But he changed his mind. See the movie and you will understand what I
mean.
If you're a "Dave man" (or woman) you will like this movie.
My own personal journey regarding this movie? ... I like Sting a lot
more than before I saw it. ;-)

I actually disagree with this. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I'm an
idealist, but I think the majority of fans (at least the fans I know,
and I know many Kinks fans) believe the Kinks are both Dave and Ray.
Why else would there be such a clamor for the Kinks to re-unite?
There is also a small minority who think Dave, Ray, Pete and Mick are
the Kinks (or ... were the Kinks); but most fans acknowledge later
lineups as counting as the Kinks.
Good for you! Be sure to let us know what you think.
