the more i read about the heroin epidemic ... i guess the sheer numbers make it a crisis but it's been around for as long as there's been poppies.
that link will take you to a story about my precious carrick ... the overdose capital of da burgh ... it doesn't have the most deaths per capita ... but addiction is everything. racism. oh you know the "good" people being interviewed are thinking it but not saying it. "the problem started when they leveled the projects."
it's so sad. so infuriating ... all the good people fighting the epidemic. treatment is so wrong. drug court. so wrong. and i, like everyone, am an expert. i mean drug court ... they run you ragged. at any point in the day, you can get a call and have to go take a drug test. while holding down a job. how do you explain that?
and it takes time ... and it's different for everyone ... it takes months for your brain to get back to normal and the depression ... the hopelessness ... how easy it is to get. usually.
what if i overdosed twice? well ... what is an overdose?
anyway everyone's got some skin in this game.
everyone knows someone. everyone has a story. stories about stories.
when lolo was in and out of rehabs ... shit ... nothing has made me this mad in so long.
going on and on about how addicts do drugs to numb the pain ... going on and on about how the addicts grow up. all this shit that means NOTHING.
tom hanks' son is/was a heroin addict.
and wow more treatment! tons of money and it doesn't even have to work! and the gov't will pick up the tab!
the only way it will end is when they make the drugs legal. cut the losses. give the addicts the drugs they want until they don't want it - if that day ever comes. don't let them get off alone. keep them numb and alive.
deaf ears are falling on me
