alt.fan.jay-leno, alt.fan.jen-aniston,
alt.fan.jennicam, alt.fan.jodie-foster,
alt.fan.john-denver and alt.fan.joseph-goebbels,
but not alt.fan.jwz on the local server. I'm sure I
remember seeing there a few years back...

Oh well, time to use usenet through deja.com. Kinda
like chewing steak though a condom. But without the
unpleasant taste. "Less Filling" isn't always
better I guess.

Every few months I trawl through some older
bookmarks and go and read what JWZ is up to. The
DNA lounge is a good read and, hopefully for jwz,
will turn out to be good finished product too.

The webcam is great -- a cut above most of the
stuff I've seen on the net for live images.

What's the table thing in the bottom left corner?
Is it some sort of bar fridge? Someone was putting
in a very large number of canisters around 4:45pm -
- beer?

(I'm finding this oddly interesting -- kind of what
one remembers reading about using the net to see
what was happening anywhere in the world in True
Names by Vernor Vinge in the '80's).

Ahh -- and now someone is sitting at the table
reading -- is that JWZ?

I'm thinking that there should be some feedback
mechanism on the page: a button that you can push
that makes a buzz in the lounge so people can wave
back, or even a text field with a cgi that displays
the text entered on one of those scrolling red LED
displays... Should be a doddle depending on the
network setup. Is www.dnalounge.com a server in the
club?

And now someone else has come along -- perhaps this
is one of those famous meetings that gets written
up later. Hmmm, lots of pointing to the ceiling...
OK.

Back to "Person In Black #1" alone at the table.
Remember kids -- black is this year's new black.

Well lunch is almost over, so I should get back to
some real work again.

"Person In Black #1" has now been joined by "Person
In Black #2" and "Person In Black #3", but there I
will have to leave them.

Cheers,
Edouard.

alt.fan.johnny-favorite actually exists at a few sites, thanks to one of my
"fans."

I remember my very first night web-browsing, some time in 1994, right after
my office got a T1. I found a page where you could make the fan in some
kids' dorm room turn on for a second or two. Whee!
