Hello all,

Thought I would start a thread here to point out some information about
The Columbine Trust Foundation, Joe Henry, and Olivia Newton-John.

If you go to the Columbine Trust Foundation's site, you will read about
how it came about, and about the use of some of the lyrics to "The Flower
That Shattered the Stone", which Joe Henry helped to write.

In August of 1999, Olivia Newton-John did a tour of the US, and sang
here in Portland, Oregon. She was just wonderful, and dedicated songs
in John's memory, and had very nice things to say about him. While
introducing the next song she would be singing, she began by saying
that it was dedicated to all children everywhere, and mentioned that she
helped to collaborate on the song. She then proceeded to sing "The Flower That
Shattered the Stone". Afterwards, she told how it was written in honor
of a friend's daughter, who was born 6 weeks after Olivia's, who had died of a
rare form of non-genetic cancer----Wilm's tumor......in 1991. She died at age
five.
Colette is pictured, along with Olivia's daughter, Chole, on her album, Warm
and Tender....

I bought her program, and read and researched some information that was in it.
A portion of the proceeds of all her concerts that year went to the CHEC
Foundation-----the Children's Health Environmental Coalition. It is an
organization founded in Colette Chuda's honor to educate parents and caregivers
about environmental health risks that children face in their homes, schools,
and community environments.

Senator Barbara Boxer from California introduced a bill (CEPA), Children's
Environmental Protection Act, in Colette's memory.
In September of 1997, Nancy and James Chuda attended the National Summit on
Global Warming and how the impact of global warming targeted children's
environmental health.
If you go to the website and research it, you will find that Joe Henry is on
the Advisory Board of CHEC......

I have no doubt that Mr. Henry is quite sincere in what he is doing at The
Columbine Trust Foundation......When I first found out about the poster,
from an article in The Aspen Times, I called to order the poster through
the Littleton Rotary Club. The man that I spoke with was very caring,
and did indeed, stress that the medical expenses for those injured in
the shooting, were ongoing------and especially, for the young woman, whose
mother committed sucide, after the shootings. He mentioned that the
expenses could continue for years...

I have a great deal of respect and admiration for Mr. Henry, as well as
Olivia Newton-John for their dedication in helping others.....

This is for those who are interested----I have found through research on my
part,
that most of the people that were involved with John Denver in one way or
another, are very caring and dedicated people.

Peace,
Wendy

Thank-you for your post Siri.....

If you search on the CHEC website, you will find that some major Hollywood
actors are involved with this-----among them John Travolta and his wife, Kelly
Preston....

Peace,
Wendy

I'll thank you too Wendy, nice post.
I know both Joe and Olivia, and I agree with what you feel. I think they are
both very kind souls, and very compassionate and talented people.

Dear Wanderer,
You are welcome-----I just wanted to point out that sometimes it is best to
research and learn about a situation or item before
getting upset about something written down.......

As I stated earlier, I have learned quite a bit about a lot of the people that
were a part of John Denver's world, and I keep becoming very amazed at what a
very intelligent man he was. He surrounded himself with brilliant, caring, and
compassionate people-----many of whom are still caring for each other and our
earth..

And as I have learned, I have shared with many of my friends, and family
members---

Peace,
Wendy

Dear Emma,
I thank-you for your words....

I tremendously enjoyed Olivia's concert...
As you know, her ex- husband is from
Lake Oswego, a very pretty place just outside of Portland. At her concert, her
daughter, Chloe, made her singing debut
on stage, in front of her grandma and family members from here. Olivia had to
kind of talk her into coming out----but she sang-----solo, and did a tremendous
job!

It was a fabulous concert, and I would definitely go to see her again-----

Thank's for the thoughts, Emma!!!
What a neat friend to have!!!!
Peace,
Wendy

My sister-in-law made a comment just last night that she thought Olivia
Newton-John had become a much nicer person as she got older. She said she
didn't like Olivia that much when she first started out but likes the way
she has matured both as a person and a performer. I often thought that John
Denver and Olivia Newton-John would make an interesting pairing.
