Was watching a DVD of the "You're The One" Paul Simon Concert that he
did in Paris and it brought to mind.......what song of John Denver's would
Paul Simon pick to sing at a tribute concert to JD......and what song of his
own would he pick to sing as a tribute to JD .....and......if JD were still
here....
what Paul Simon song would JD have picked out as his favorite that he would
have liked to have recorded?
Dee

There might be better ones than these, since I haven't bought all of Paul's work
(yet!)

These are things too horrific to contemplate.

Still, the wife and I keep scanning the TV guide for "One Trick Pony",
Paul Simon's unintentionally hilarious 1980 semi-autobiographical
film. We love watching his hairpiece change angles as he struts from
scene to scene in his studly super-tight jeans.

KB, I know you are just jealous 'cause you know you were never able to look
that cute yourself no matter how hard you tried.

Great answers!! Thanks for taking the time!
P.S. If you haven't checked out the "You're the One" Video/DVD.....and
you like Paul Simon's work.....you should. (In my opinion, JD would have
liked it too).

I can imagine John singing AMERICAN TUNE, and SOUNDS OF SILENCE, and Homeward
Bound. I can see Paul singing John's song "AFRICAN SUNRISE", (because of Pauls
experinnces in Africa). And the song "ONE WORLD". Maybe others, let me think
about it more. Randy

Paul Simon used to be kind of cute, in a gnome-like sort of way, but
he looks grim now...older than his 60 years, with an ashen complexion.

He seemed sad, and oddly disengaged from his performance when I last
saw him on TV.

Last year we saw a Paul Simon/Bob Dylan concert. I'm not a Dylan fan (like his
songs if someone else sings them), but Dylan's musicianship was outstanding in
comparison to Simon. The instrumental parts were wonderful, though Dylan's
"singing" was even less intelligible than I'm used to from the albums. Simon,
in comparison, seemed to reside/hide? under his cap and the size of his
accompaniment (sp) overwhelmed the man and his music.

So why'd you go?

FYI: Paul Simon injured his hand while playing tennis sometime in the late 70s, so
he's never actually *played* the guitar since then. He just wears it as a prop.

PS is also completely, %100 bald (which is why he wears that silly baseball hat at
all times) and is only a little shorter than Hal Thau, which explains why he was
overwhelmed by the sheer size of his guitar (which he doesn't play anyway).

Starland Vocal Band (I think - it may have been just Bill & Taffy) did a
great version of "American Tune". I would have loved to hear John sing it.
