Before you buy.
It's called The Texas River Song.
Pam
Here are the words to it:
We crossed the wild Pecos
We forded the Nueces
We swum the Guadalape
An we followed the Brazos
Red River runs rusty
The Witchita clear
But down by the Brazos
I courted my dear.
Singing li, li, li, le, le, le
Lend me your hand
Li, li, li, le, le
Lend me your hand
Li, li, li, le, le, le
Lend me your hand
There's many a river
That waters the land
Now the fair Angelina
Runs glossy and gliding
The crooked Colorado
Runds weaving and winding
The slow San Antonio
Courses the plains
But I never will walk
By the Brazos again
She kissed me and she hugged me
And she called me her dandy
The Trinity's muddy
But the Brazos quick sandy
She kissed me and she hugged me
And she called me her own
But down by the Brazos
She left me alone
Now the girls of Little River
They're plump and they're pretty
The Sabine and the Sulphur
Hold beauties a 'many
The banks of the Neches
There are girls by the score
But down by the Brazos
I'll wander no more.
Best,
Dot

Thanks for the info. I was living in Colorado then, but never heard
anything about it. Rats! Sorry I missed out. I would have loved to hear
them sing together.
I saw in a recent issue of the Denver Post that Lyle Lovett was to be
performing soon in the Aspen area (if I remember this correctly?).

Best,

I don't have that CD - what's your favorite song on it? Maybe that will
ring a bell. I'm so glad to hear other people like Lyle, I've been told
that he's an acquired taste. I went to see him in concert in either '92 or
'93 (pre-Julia!) and became an instant fan. He was so easy going and
brilliant, and I have to say he did remind me of John. After the show, we
were walking to the car, and he stepped out of his bus as we passed by. He
just started chit-chatting with us, as if we were old friends. My husband
(who is a HUGE fan) was so nervous and so obvious about it - Lyle couldn't
help teasing him. He flipped out so bad at one point that he got in the car
(which was very nearby) and started to drive off without me. Lyle thought
that was hilarious.
Did you see the episode of Dharma & Greg he was on?? It was too funny!
Peace,
Barb

That is a funny story about your hubby and you meeting Lyle! Sounds like it
would have made good material for a TV show! LOL!

Count me in. My fav song of his is "Penquins". Best, Gloria

"The moment at hand is the only thing we really own." John Denver
Anyone know the name of it?
Thanks!
Ann
It's "If I Had A Boat" and it's on the Lyle Lovett, Live In Texas CD.
Cute song!

One of my favorite Lyle songs is God Will. Where the girl asks the singer for
forgiveness and the singer replies..
God Will but I won't
And that's the difference
between me and God.
Terrifically funny line, and so true to human nature.
Marty
The song "Don't Touch My Hat" has a funny line that says:
"If its her you want
I don't care about that
You can have my girl
But don't touch my hat"
That sounds like a true Texan! LOL!
Best,
Dot
