John's legal name

I see where Annie, Cassandra, and Jesse Belle go by Denver. Zak and
Anna Kate seem to go by Deutschendorf. Did John change his name
legally to Denver?

Just wondering.

John remained legally 'Henry John Deutschendorf Junior' to the end of his
life.His death certificate bears his real name and many of the dedicated
monuments bear the inscription 'HJ Deutschendorf Jr Aka John Denver'.The tax
dept and law courts (eg the drunk driving charges) all are in his birth
name.
Annie goes by Denver as it helps with various charities she's involved with.
'Deutschendorf'(God,you have no idea how tiring typing that over and over
again is!) would have enabled Anna Kate and Zak to have a degree of privacy
and sense of separate identity.(There is a story of a canoe donated to Anna
Kate's Dartmouth rowing team being accidentally named 'John Denver'-they had
no idea she was his daughter! & Anna Kate being a bit embarrassed.)Anna Kate
now goes by her married name,Hutter.
As for Jesse Belle being Denver,well,I'm guessing that was Cassy's idea.;-)
