Hi, just wondering about what kind of person Annie Martell was
and if she was anything like her husband at all. Did she share
John's New Age philosophies as passionately as he did? From what
I've seen of her, she seems to be comparatively. . .mainstream.

Not knowing Annie personally, I can't speak of what her philosophies are, but
from what I've read and what John has said, I don't believe Annie or Cassandra
shared his views on many subjects.

Just my take, of course,

Since you have mentioned "Cassandra"...I was wondering if anyone has
ever questioned the babies actual father? I am wondering because
someone sitting here next to me is saying that John was said to not be
able to have had children. Was this John who was not able to, or
Annie? Thank you

Hi Summer,

Many of us feel uncomfortable discussing this subject, as this is an
open forum. There's always a possibility that one of Jesse's
schoolmates might read here... out of curiosity about the little girl's
father. They are just at that age!

It is public knowledge that the problem was not with Annie; John states
that clearly in his book. Cassie also made some rather cruel remarks in
public (Windstar), during the time of the divorce. That much is general
knowledge.

Best,
Hiway

Love the way that certain ones on this ng like to "tease" others that come
here by saying they know the "real" truth about matters that have to do with
JD, but when pressed do not have anything substantial to back up those
claims and then try to hide behind the "we don't want to go there because
we are just too good" ploy...not to mention, all done under completely
hidden identities. Please....give us a break.
When it comes to the fantasy that a lot of women have here about the
undying
love John had for Annie......I'm sorry but I guess all of you must have had
your heads in the sand at all the concerts, etc.....if I recall correctly,
John had a penchant for pretty young blondes....and they didn't seem to have
any problem
getting close to him with the least bit of effort.
As far as JD being the biological father of Jesse Belle, there was
something about a DNA test that was done BEFORE JD died because Cassie kept
asking JD for more money all the time. What the results of that DNA test
were, if there was truely a test done, I do not think have been made public
for obvious reasons.
(It is my opinion that the results didn't matter at all when it comes to how
much
JD loved Jesse Belle. He still loved her with all his heart...that's
supposed to be one of the reasons he bought that damn plane...to be close to
Jesse Belle.)

I'm sorry Dee, as I did not use good thinking prior to asking such a
question and in truth, it doesn't matter...as for 'hidden
identities'..I've heard this several times now and I am beginning to
wonder what this NG is all about. I thought it was a place where we
could share thoughts and feelings on the memory of John Denver. What
the man stood for is far beyond bickering. I can not understand what
is within the hearts and minds of some of you, nor the spirit and
intent either. Yet, I see names such as yours..."Dee" and on the
header, it says "Ed", yet the irony of it all is that you make mention
of "hidden identities"...I take that and have to laugh for to me...I
don't care if you are an "Ed", a"Dee" or any other "Label" you wish to
be identified with. I'd rather look beyond the messenger and see the
message if there is any. Perhaps we can concentrate on that? Again,
my apologies for asking. I am quite new here with this NG and only
asked because I had a friend over my shoulder while I was reading one
post and she asked me...I in turn placed it out. It won't happen
again. :-)

May I assume that these remarks are in reference to me? What exactly
would you like me to do - spill everything out in a public forum, for
the child and/or her classmates to see? I came too close to doing that
before, and I think it was a mistake on my part; I strongly believe

A DNA test was never done. John wouldn't allow it. This came up during
the divorce proceedings.

He liked to deal with the ladies, alright. Seriously though, I
think there are many women here (myself included) who would be
willing to be a John groupie, even though he was married. He
liked female attention, and he liked to flirt. Perhaps brunettes

My interpretation is that Dee is pissed that Hiway has personal knowledge of
John and Dee wants to know Hiways real name otherwise she thinks Hiway has no
right to post anything about John. You know how much some people really hate
not knowing the name of someone. They hate it even more when some of us *know*
the real names of each other and most of them have to keep guessing.

Carol the problem is that there are people who will doubt your real name so its

For Hiway and Laura,
Actually I wasn't pointing my finger at just one person or the other, but
really basically those few of you that do like to do the "we know more than
you do,
and we are going to let you know that we do, but we aren't really going to
tell you what we know" kind of repartee that is meant to please only those
few and exclude everybody else. Makes me doubt that there really is all
that much to tell in the first place.
So far as the not wanting to say anything about Jesse Belle because you are
afraid that she might read it or that her classmates might read it... it's
too bad this same kind of consideration isn't extended to those
conversations that concern subjects like having THE picture of John with
that sexy bulge in his pants, the size of JD's penis, etc....sorry, I don't
find those all that tasteful....but I guess that is alright for those
innocent little children to read. Actually, I think it is rather ludicrous
to think that Cassie is going to allow Jesse Belle to access
any JD newsgroup especially since there are so many nastry remarks made
about Cassie herself. (By the way, the DNA test I was talking about
actually was supposed to have ocurred AFTER the divorce because Cassie was
not
satisfied with what she got FROM the divorce.....I know about the JD
refusing to have the test story....this is not what I was referring to.)

Laura's remark, though, that there are some good people to listen to and
others that aren't and you'll learn which ones does kind of sum up the
attitude that I was refering to. Kind of sad in a place where people are
congregating because they loved John Denver....I'd be willing to bet he
would have hated this kind of attitude.

Ok Dee...
You find me one place in which I was discussing *any* of that, and I'll
apologize.
I haven't tho, and as far as I can see, you are the one bringing it up at this
moment.
What that has to do with John and DNA
testing is beyond me.. why bring it up?
It certainly is NOT ok for small children to read things like that, and you
haven't seen
either Hiway nor myself in these conversations, yet you implied both of us.
As for THE picture.. since you emphasized the word THE.. I assume you mean my
joke about THE picture. Anyone here for that joke can tell you that I was
referring to the picture of him golfing. I love that picture.

As far as you think it ludicrous that Cassie
would allow Jesse on the ng... well..
thats naive.
11 year old are notorius for sneaking and
a newsgroup is awfully easy to access.

What attitude are you referring to that I sum up by saying there are good
people to listen to and not good people?
I would say Gloria, Christine, Wendy,
and MANY others are great to listen to, fantastic to learn from.. while posters
such as ImJohndenver, etc.. should be
ignored most of the time.
Do you disagree with this? Do you think
that I have an "attitude" by stating this?

Dee,
I firmly believe that John would find 99% of any conversations taking place
here worthless. I find it so unbelievable that posters here find so little on
the positive side to post.I also find it very hard to believe that any of
John's very close friends would spend their most precious time on this message
board. Most of whom I am aware that were his very close friends are busy in
their lives helping to make the world a better place. And I am aware that he
enjoyed many dear friendships. A lot of what is written here has no bearing on
anything positive, only written to cause pain. That certainly was not what John
Denver believed in. John was very forthright about the messages and heartfelt
ideas that were inside of him to get out to those that stated they cared about
making a difference. How many here really care about making a difference in our
world today;how many really care about what exactly John believed in, and what
steps he took to make his commitments become realities?

I have mentioned to my sons some of what has been posted here------they just
roll their eyes back in wonderment and disgust-----
27, 25, and almost 20 years of age they are.

Most of the current postings, in my opinion,
have the age factor of about 7 here............

Most have NOTHING to do with John Denver...............You are right, it is
very sad in a place where people are congregating because they loved John
Denver.

I wonder if any of these posters that even refuse to post their name would want
others
*dissecting* their family members apart......
Will any of this matter 5, 10, even 15 years from now?

YES WENDY!!! Thank You!
THAT is exactly what I meant by posting
'leave this alone".
Not quite sure why I came under attack for stating that we SHOULD NOT discuss
such private matters. Never claimed to have secrets, never said anything about

it got a negative response.
We should not dissect Jesse's life.

Dear Laura,
I didn't mean to imply in any way about
*tooting* one's own horn. I simply meant
to state once again about the works of many of John's friends, long established
friends that are making a positive difference
in our world-------David Brower and Earth Island Institute, Dr. David Suzuki
and The
David Suzuki Foundation, Lou Gold and The Siskiyou Project, Bruce Gordon and
Lighthawk, Olivia Newton-John and the CHEC Net organization, of which Joe Henry
is a member of the board of directors, Jean Michael Cousteau and OCEAN FUTURES,

Morley Nelson and the Snake River Birds of
Prey, Dennis Weaver and The Institute of Ecolonomics, Mardy Murie, and The
Murie Center, Charles Craighead, and the Craighead Environmental Research
Center,
Joe Henry and the newly formed foundation that he has started concerning the
Columbine survivors and their families, Jerry Jampolsky and Diane Cirincione,
The Network of Attitudinal Healing International,
W. Mitchell, "It's Not What Happens To You, It's What You Do About It", Tom
Crum and Aiki Works, Rolland Smith, Emmy winning commentator and Master of
Cermonies of Windstar Symposiums, even Melissa Poe of K.I.D.S Face, and Tara
Church of Tree Musketeers. These are just some of John's friends and associates
that are out in our world helping to make a positive difference. All of these
individuals
continue to honor the love and respect they had for John Denver in the most

Hi Dee....

I really have to disagree with this part of your post....

I have no doubt that JD was probly "unfaithful" to Annie.....how often, or
how much, I have no idea.

Still doesn't mean that he didn't love Annie...or that people have thier
"heads in the sand" if they think so.

They say that "infidelity" in marriages today is at the very least, very
high, and we all know how high the divorce rate is. And thats with "normal"
folk. Celebrities seem to change marriage partners like we change underwear!

John was obviously distraught over his break-up with Annie...and the fact
that they became good friends AFTER the divorce is proof enough to me that
THEIR love, although maybe not on a romantic level anymore, prevailed.

Takes a lot of maturity, compassion and LOVE to forgive, and accept each
other as people really are.

I'm in no way defending John's actions, since he used very poor judgement and
poor "coping" skills sometimes.....but you can count me as one of those people
who beleives he TRULY loved Annie!

Count me as one too, Cheri. IMHO, their mutal love had evolved to a deep and
abiding soulmate kind of love. Not a romantic love but a love far deeper than
that.

Well, against my better judgement, I let my emotions guide my thoughts to
say things that should not be said in this kind of forum since it has become
quite obvious that the point I was trying to make has been turned into
something quite different than what I intended. But, I am going to
(against my better judgement again) try to explain again. The main gist of
what I was trying to get across is that there are some people that have been
lurking here for a long time and some people that are new. The new ones are
not privy to all the information that has been acquired by the old ones;
therefore, it does seem a bit snotty to try to "put them in their place" by
implying that their questions are already known by those that have been here
for awhile and that they should go somewhere else to look up that
information. It is only natural for people to be curious about the lives of
the people they admire...even the parts of those peoples lives that come
under what might be considered "gossip". This is supposed to be an "open"
forum. The question about whether John could have really been Jesse Belle's
father is a legitimate question anybody would be curious about considering
everything that John himself said not only about himself but about
Cassandra. I also think of this place as an adult forum...it's hard for me
to believe that any responsible adult would allow their child to come
here....not to mention I doubt that there are many children who would care
to come to a John Denver ng....it's not exactly "The Back Street Boys".

This question comes under the category of "Let's Mind Our Own Business." Being
curious doesn't give one the right to question the paternity of someone else's
child.

This is so obviously a very personal, private matter, that it's hard for me to
understand why anyone would want to even ask that question. Whatever happened
to respect for another person's privacy and to just plain old good manners?

Laura,
As I stated I was not pointing my finger as any *one* person but the little
group that seems to have formed that think they are the keepers of all the
JD trivia and want to dictate what or what cannot be discussed here. But
since you did bring up that you never post to anything that has to do with
the sexy stuff, you might want to visit the "bigger penis, better sex"

Right Dee..
I suppose you missed the fact that I went

I didn't post much more than that.
What? You spend your time looking

BTW.. you said we discussed JOHNS
anatomy..
NOT that we poked fun at a spam message.
Which is what that entire thread was about. BIG difference. (particularly
since
you were the one who made the accusation)

I did some research on that thread, had to check myself before I signed off
this subject.
I posted THREE messages..
one to jokingly say I could have guessed
who was participating in the thread (which was started by SPAM)
The second to say I was laughing at
a choice of words by Bill Berry.
Third to feign shock at KJs joke.
Nowhere did I discuss anyones anatomy.
Nowhere did I discuss a sexy pic of John
with a bulge in his pants, in ANY thread.
Nowhere did I discuss the size of his..
you get the picture.

THOSE were the accusations that YOU made. Not that I joked in a spam thread.

You have the problem Dee, not I.
I made a simple statement that many
understood as just that. You chose
to take that simple statement and make
accusations that are unfounded.
Why on earth a "this was discussed and
caused arguments, look it up on Deja"
post (plus a nice email to Summer from
myself of which you were unaware) ..
why that caused you to go off about
this other stuff, that I have nothing to do with.. is beyond me.

I feel pretty secure that I have NOT
done these things you talk about, and
I certainly didn't say anything derogatory
in the Bigger penis, better sex thread.
THAT is the first time I have used either
of those words on this ng. I keep it clean.

As far as I know nowhere in that thread was there a mention (horrors, it was

Wow, go out of state for a few days, and look what happens to the NG.

Dee, you keep saying that you are not singling Laura out.
Let me help you to understand why you give that impression.

Your first post, in which you rant about several things,
you quote Laura.

Your second, in which you state you didn't imply Laura, you
also state that her remark was indicative of the attitude that
JD would hate.

I beg to differ. Laura is attempting to defend his child.

Her remark was "there are some great people here, and then there
aren't". You quoted her incorrectly and said that she said there
were good people to listen to. She didn't even catch that.
(Although it is correct.. I wouldn't bother listening to Rockymthigh,
Imjohndenver (WHAT a loser) or the others like that.)
I find it disgusting that you would actually act like you are judging
who JD would hate and wouldn't hate. I believe he would thank Laura
for her attempts. He would hate that you attempted to tell her and
others that he wouldn't care for her attitude. He hated people trying
to speak for him, unless maybe you knew him and knew his feelings.

Wendy, you seem to think JD's friends were ALL highly active in saving
the world. Many of the people you mention he did call friend, but
the people he saw on a regular basis, the people who he sat and
conversed with as a normal guy... they exist too. Do not make
a judgment that his "REAL" friends wouldn't be here, and would be
out saving the world rather than waste time here.
John actually kicked back and relaxed once in awhile. Life cannot
be 100% serious all the time. He wouldn't have written half his songs
if he was always serious.

I believe Lauras implication that she does not blow her own horn was
out of frustration. It seems as if the conversation always goes that
way, that some of you aren't "active".
Some even want to stand up and announce in public what they have done
to further JD's causes. (during the get togethers) I'm sorry, but I
don't feel that is right.
There are several people who may not have been ABLE to do what they
wanted, and some who just don't want to announce it publically out
of modesty.

Back to the topic at hand. So in your second post, you also singled
out Laura while at the same time saying you didn't.

Your third post, you again attempt to say you didn't single out Laura,
then you tell her that she posted in the "Bigger Penis, Better Sex"
thread.
Pray tell, who the hell cares? She didn't post anything about any of
the subjects of which you accuse her. She denied only what you accused
her of, she didn't say she never posted anything having to do with
having a bit of fun.
In going back to the beginning of this year, I don't see Laura
partaking in any of the anatomy discussions. Although she did
discuss a "yummy" picture of JD. BUT.. that was called that first,
by someone else. The picture contained no bulge of any kind.
Yet, you use very specific wording in your accusations. I can't find
an inkling that you had reason to say what you did.

If I were Laura and Hiway, I would by highly insulted by you.
You wore two faces throughout this thread, then claim that people took
it wrong. How can you say you aren't singling someone out, then quote
them EACH time?

Laura, I assure you, John would thank you for attempting to keep his
daughters personal business out of the limelight.
He hated for his children to be discussed in the publics eye.
And yes, I CAN say that Dee. I did know him, quite well.
And I will hide behind my screen name, and not tell you who I am.
Truth speaks whether or not I post my name.

Thank you, Tess, Sue, Cashmeing, Hiway, Absolutely Cynthia, Wendy,
and the rest who also spoke up in defense of a young girl.
Jesse Belle thanks you also.

Bondini, James Bondini ;-)

Take note, Dee. THIS is the kind of crap that JD hated.
I must also wonder about the "Reverend". Isn't the reverend
or priestess or someone the one who was sick enough to buy and

That one left us reeling, and still turns my stomach.

"Bondini",

It was me who suggested we get together to share what each of us was doing
to further John's causes. In no way did I mean it the way you suggest,
although I can understand that it could be seen that way. All I had in mind
was for a group of people to discuss what they were doing with each other
and anyone else who might need a little inspiration. Some people would love
to be "doing something" but simply can't come up with any ideas. And of
course we can't all do exactly what we would like to do - but I am sure we
can all do something, even if it is only picking up a piece of litter. I
agree entirely that it is not appropriate to "toot one's own horn" in this
respect, I know that John himself often chose to remain anonymous in his
generosity. You will know that better than I - obviously there are many
good deeds that he did about which the public know nothing.

Peace, in John's memory,

It's not so much the names of people.
It's the people who use more than one
name, and use several names to stir
up trouble.
Posting under false identities like that.
Not so much that (making names up here)
Bills name might really be Frank.. who would care?
BUT.. when Bill posts as Bill, and
as Imjohndenver, Rockymthigh and so on,
for the sole purpose of attacking good people.. thats where the "hidden

come in.

What a weird newsgroup. I asked what Annie Martell Denver was
like, someone said neither she nor Cassandra shared John's
passions (which I believe), THEN just because Cassandra was
mentioned someone had to mention the old "John is not Jesse

Notice however, Cynthia, that all this variety is being discussed without major
cussing or blasphemy. And I really must commend you on this post which does
not appear to be in your usual vocabulary. It is nice! Thank you And isn't
it nice to have choices in your reading material? Sue

I remember you talking about this before. But we know people stare at you guys
because they know he's a lucky man! (major brown-nosing there!)

We do get casual looks. Must be my sparkling charm and personality radiating
about me about my humble self like a glowing aura. No?. It's just the way I
walk in my tight jeans! No?. My zipper is open? Sometimes!

Her parents are about 15 years older than I. She is the youngest of eight. I am
older than her oldest sibling by about 10 years though. Gee, this sounds like a
math test!

You're math test is easier than mine! He was born in '36 and I was born in
'64. And his oldest son (of a total of six for him, two with me...our kids
half brother) has three kids which makes me a gramma! Yikes!! <g>

I was born in '60. My fiance in '80. My daughter in '83 and my son in '86. And,
yes, they are cool with it. Or as my son would say, "jiggy with it". Now the
cat's out of the bag. No more math tests!

Well, well. An immature remark from someone who is going to bed alone tonight.
And last night. And tomorrow night. Me, I'll be all snug and warm and not alone
tonight. Nor was I last night nor will I be tomorrow night. And Cash, you know
that does not mean you!

Deja would laugh in her drugged up face. SHE posted it publicly when
all the idiots were confessing their self imposed addictions. What you
ought to be concerned about is this pillhead/mental case is allowed to
screw up children's minds in a classroom. So much for "the children"
sweety.

All these old hags here are going to talk about you now. Tsk tsk. Did
you use the old "I'll show you my candy bars" line to get her into bed?

ROFLMAO. They are all hiding behind their screen names these days. And
all this time, I thought Hiway was on vacation. Fly Away comes to mind.
