She never admitted to the fact that she was, but then again she never said
she was straight either. I thought the book that her brother wrote was very
interesting, he says that she's bisexual.

Simply because the evidence of her relationship with Cyrdney Bernard
seems overwhelming, however, the tabloids and other sources have
reported relationships with Russell Crowe, Scott Baio (in her teen
years) ,Marco Pasanella, and possibly others in her past. And her
mother had a lesbian affair after being married for years and after
that affair was over went back to heterosexual affairs, according to
Buddy Foster. So I think that influenced Jodie to become bisexual.

No direct proof, of course, just a good guess, I think.

Her brother is Lucius "Buddy" Foster [the II or III, I forget which -
it's late and I'm too lazy to look it up...:-) ]. He used to be a
child actor about the same time Jodie became one. He ran away from
home around age 15, got into drugs, attempted suicide, detoxed, and
now is married and runs a construction company in, I think, Minnesota
or one of those north central states.

He wrote a book about himself, his family and Jodie called "Foster
Child," which I have. When it came out, Jodie denounced the book as
half-truths because she has only seen him about 15 times over the last
20 years. The book, however, is valuable because of the description
of life in their family before he ran away. It was a close-knit but
somewhat dysfunctional family. Her father abandoned the family before
Jodie was born. Jodie was initially raised by her mother and her
lesbian lover, a woman named Jo, for whom Jodie is nicknamed (Jodie's
real name is Alicia Christian Foster). It's an interesting book.

In the book, Buddy describes Jodie as being gay or bisexual, but his
creditbility on that was blown when it was revealed (presumably by
Jodie and her PR peopl) that his original book proposal - which he had
submitted to Jodie and her lawyers for review - said just the
opposite. That and the fact that he has never talked with Jodie about
her private life and has not seen her but 15 times over 20 years sort
of makes his statement speculation (or perhaps info he has gleaned
from his other sisters, Connie and Cindy.)

foster child - a biography of jodie foster:
http://hallbiography.com/arts_literature/543.shtml

but you should not rely on it, I think:

' [...] This, it must be said, is not his sister's view. Jodie Foster, at
the pinnacle of Hollywood at the age of 35, broke her usual silence to damn
her big brother's efforts as a "cheap cry for attention and money". She and
Buddy, she said, had become estranged because of his "severe dependence on
drugs", his " violent outbursts" and his "constant" attempts to prise cash
from their mother [...] '

the whole article can be found here:

by the way, why is it so important for you to know? it really does not
matter, does it ?

To be slightly more specific - the name came from Jo (as you rightly say) and her surname
was Dominguez.

The only problem with that is her brother submitted the book proposal
to Jodie and her lawyers prior to publishing. In the proposal he says
that he always assumed she was heterosexual. After the book came out
claiming he always assumed she was gay or bi, they released the book
proposal which contradicted that - and blew his credibility. All he
could say was, "That part of the book needed more work" LOL, Buddy!

My guess is she is bisexual for the simple reason that her mother had
an affair with the woman Jodie is named after. So figure this: Jodie
is an actress, a good-looking woman in her teens, running around
Europe with all sorts of movie people like Sydne Rome, another babe
actress (American ex-patriate living in Rome), sooner or later another
woman hits on her. So what does she do? It was good enough for her
mother, and she's precocious and imaginative and "curious-yellow", so
she tries it. If the other woman knew what she was doing, the
experience was positive for Jodie. So she keeps doing it. But she
doesn't give up men, unless her mother and her experiences with her
brother may have conditioned her to be wary of men. So she's very
likely bi, not gay.

Most bisexuals prefer one sex or the other, so she could prefer women
or men. But there's been enough rumors about her and men that I doubt
she's totally gay. She's way too friendly with Mel Gibson, for one
thing, and he can't stand gays (of course he could be hypocritical
about lesbians, most men are).

Just my reasoning - not proof of anything, of course.

As to why it matters - well, when you like someone, you want to know
if they're available, however unlikely it is you'll get next to them.
I'm not a "fan" of Jodie, I like her as a person and as a smart,
powerful, talented, creative woman. So naturally it would be nice to
know whether she's "available" to men or not. If not, oh, well.

Her brothers book was interesting but I liked the bio that was written by
Philippa Kennedy much better. Her brothers seemed to talk more about himself
and with all that happened with the credibility thing, I didn't take it
seriously. Anyway, it doesn't bother me if she's straight, gay or bi. All I
know is that she's an amazing actress who happens to be intelligent too.

Take care, and do shine on!

I can't speak for him, but here's my answer:

I find women attractive, so I can understand what a woman might find
attractive in another woman.
I don't find men attractive, so I can't understand what a man would find
attractive in another man.
I suspect a similar mechanism is at work in the apparent tendency of women
to be more tolerant
of gay men than lesbian women.

I also don't understand what women find attractive in men, but I'm not about
to complain.

intoerence to homosexuals is natural for straight people. Homosexuality is a
perversion after all regardless of how much they deny it. it does not make
it a bad thing any more than bondage is a bad thing. The big issue is
freedom of speech. slating a homophobe is no different than the homophobe
slating the gay person. the gay person, the homophobe and the homophobe
intolerent individual all have the right to exist, but when it comes to the
crunch, homosexuality is a perversion, hetrosexuality isn't
end of story

homophobia has nothing to do with a persons sexual security.

its just a convenient wrapper. how would you explain someone whom has
intolerence for homophobes. Is that based on themselves???
