I have a few questions about a Jimmy Buffett song that I

hope some Parrottnetters can answer.

In "We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About" from

One Particular Harbor, J. Buffett sings:

"I love Cajun martinis and playing afternoon golf"

Later in the song he sings:

"Hey, hey, Gardner McCay, take us on the Liki Tiki with you"

1. What is a Cajun martini? What is the recipe?

2. Who is Gardner McCay?

3. Is Liki Tiki spelled like I have it shown in this posting?

I would like to name my boat the Liki Tiki but I want to

make sure that it's spelled correctly.

Any comments are welcome

Cajun martini: Vodka, shaken with ice. Garnish with a jalapeno. Use pepper vodka for more flavor (Absolut Peppar).

Gardner McKay: Old TV show named "south Pacific", I think. He sailed the "Tiki". It leaked. Hence, "leaky Tiki".

Fins up!

I think the name of the show was "Adventures in Paradise". I
remember watching the show with my parents when I was young.
Does anyone know when it was on? My guess would be '61, '62.

Happy memories,
-Gary

Thanks Rick, I could use one right about now. :-)

I saw JB's reference to the show (I belive) in the forward
of Tales from Margaritaville. That's what initially jogged
my memory. With the weather that we have been having up
here in Chicago, it's about time to re-read the book. I
could use a few warm, ocean filled, dreams about now.

Warm wishes to all,
-Gary

Actually - Choose the alcohol to prepare the martini. Some use gin, some use
vodka. Seed one jalapeno pepper and place in the bottle of alcohol for at least
24 hours. Then, make your martini. One final note; to really impress your
friends garnish with either pickled okra or an olive stuffed with jalapeno
pepper. That, is a Cajun Martini. And remember - don't drink and drive.

This is a martini with Tabasco sauce in it (or pepper sauce of your
choice.) Oh, and perhaps a jalapen~o rather than an olive.

>2. Who is Gardner McCay?

A character from an old TV series. I think it was from "Adventures in
Paradise".

Leaky Tiki. This is the boat that Gardner McCay sailed around the south
Pacific in in the TV show.
