Are they actually going to make this movie? I've heard it over and over
again, but can't seem to find out anything about it. I posed the
question to this news group just last week, and not one person replied.
I guess no one knows, or folks don't like talking with newbies. Either
way, I'd still like to know. Peggy

LOL... if we didn't talk to newbies..we wouldn't
be talking to each other since we were all in that boat
at one time. Your first thought was on target. No
one really knows. It's been "in production" forever
(ok, maybe about 5 years) and still no new news.

Perhaps you should ask the experts...post the
question to Jimmy's website.

Here's an option. Bring Backstage up in your browser.
http://www.backstage.com/backstage/index.jsp Scope out the news for Florida,
scope out Backstage West. Anything that's truly in production will have a
mention in Backstage. Another way to check is the IATSE online listing of job
openings for camera operators. If anything is being shot in a union shop it
will be posted there.

There are a few other professional orgs that post openings or job auditions,
AFTRA (Assn of Film Television and Radio Actors). The Screenwriters Guild
will list properties under development. You can use Backstage West as a
springboard to locate the other professional orgs.

As far as I can see there were more radar blips about the latest Maria Carry
project then any Buffett film project.

Not Harrison Ford. You would have to really deviate from the
book (course have to do that anyway) or age all the characters.

Blanton and Billy were in service with Franks Dad so they
would have to be played by someone old enough to be Harrisons
dad..LOL. I love HF but... maybe he needs to play Blanton.

Trevor....Marissa Tomei

Yah. Harry's in his fifties, and I think Brillo's in his early-mid
thirties. But Harry is a plane and helicopter pilot to boot.

Hell yeah she'd go for this! Excellent choice! Trevor has to be a strong
and independent person, and that's JF all over.

That's Kathy. I think she's of the caucasian persuasion in the book, but
other than that, yeah, Whoopi'd be great.

> > Colonel Cairo: Michael Ironside
> how 'bout cheech marin, with a bit of nasty added?

Quite a bit nastier. He was a heavy of sorts in "Desperado", but I could
never quite get him as a bad guy.

> > Charlie Fabian: Antonio Banderas
> > Rudy Breno: Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman)

Another excellent choice, except that again Rudy's Frank's age.

Stephen Soderbergh is so serious and focused. I mentioned Alman because
all his movies (Pret a Porte, MASH, Short Cuts) are lots of stories
happening at once, and that's how the book goes.

He does lots more than Muppets. Remember his first big hit: "American
Grafitti"?

AHHH!!!! JB of course! Who else would dare?

that thinking part; i was having trouble with it, too. just can't come
up with the right person.

leslie caron or maureen o'hara, but i think they're both a tad aged for
the part.

it's obviously going to have to be rewritten extensively for things like
time-setting, etc. maybe rewrite a few characters to account for the
actors. things like that.
when they did that for the lord of the rings, i thought i'd hate it.
for the most part, i think it worked. it wasn't "pure" but it was still
a dang good movie. WJM may have to be like that

AG was just a few years ago. since then, he's put all those nasty,
weird-ass critters in the star wars movies (and my younger son is not
very happy about the looks of the next one). whatever he once had, he
just ain't got no more. maybe Madonna's husband, guy pearce; somebody
from the indie would be cool.

Doh! I knew that. ... I guess because Blanton knew Billy before
he met Frank I keep wanting to make them contemporaries.

If Spike Lee did it? Well, if he took the gig in the first place, it might
go something like:

* VERY hot love scene
* lots of pastels and cross-angles in each shot
* his sister would have a part
* Terence Blanchard would write the soundtrack
But all his movies take place in NYC. I can't think of a one that wasn't.
