What a fucking idiot. Yeah, and The Grudge was completely original,
as was Scooby Doo. She's just whining because if she had a role in
it, which CLEARLY she won't, it would be that of Buffy's goddam
grandma.

And for just a touch of nostalgia, there's this:

http://www.mid-day.com/lifestyle/2011/may/160511-Johnny-Depp-Jessica-Alba-non-singles.htm

An online dating service for 'non-singles' has declared Hollywood
actors Johnny Depp and Jessica Alba, 'the most desirable to have an
affair with'. We take a closer look at the results and the two stars
'honoured' with the distinction.

Another list Sarah will never be on.

Now would be the time to do a real Buffy movie in competition.

And what exactly would the Grudge or Scooby Doo have to do with this?
BTVS is Joss' creation - Fran was just some producer who helped the original
film get made, and nothing more.
Buffy was Sarah's the moment of the Season 1 Pilot episode - although I will
never have anything against Kristy Swanson, she in fact was never really
Buffy; Sarah nailed the character perfectly.
Fran is just trying to take advantage of all this Twilight hype to make a
quick buck, at the expense of Joss Whedon and the fans of the show.
And SMG is an incredibly intelligent and talented actress, not an idiot -
that title belongs to *you*.
And Fran, of course.
I hope this damn reboot falls flat on its face!!!!

I guess it means that if SMG was so dead set against doing movies that
had already made the rounds, she wouldn't have done The Grudge or
Scooby Doo. That wasn't so freaking hard to figure out.

I must have missed that Scooby-Doo movie prior to Sarah's version.

The Grudge really was a remake, though the original was a foreign language
film not much seen in the U.S. And one important distinction is that the
remake was done by the same guy who created the original. That makes a
difference. Sort of as if the proposed Buffy movie was being produced by
Joss Whedon.

I'm not convinced the comparisons are all that apt.

Still, I continue to think that the new venture ought to succeed or fail on
its own merits without getting hung up on who should be allowed to touch the
idea. If that really was the way things worked, there'd only be one Dracula
story and Joss wouldn't have just shot Shakespeare in the 21st century.

Actually, it would have meant SMG wouldn't have done Dracula or
Shakespeare because it has already been done. Like "Ringer" is
totally original. I can't wait for the scene where the two sisters
are held at gunpoint and start arguing over which one they are...
