I met Jello in Vancouver not so long ago when he was up here doing some
narrations on a John Conti film. I work with the Nomeansno crew, and he
was at a party with some of the gang there kind of getting hassled by
local guerrilla interviewer Nardwuar the Human Serviette. But he seemed
in good spirits.

Jello seemed like a nice guy to me. Craig Bougie introduced me to him
and he was quite friendly. I must admit I was a little shy, like anybody
who was at one time a little punk rock snot who meets one of their
youthful icons. For my own sake, I seem to remember at the party that I
shot out a one-liner that made him laugh and I felt good entertaining,
albeit briefly, a guy I had been entertained by for so long.

As for Frank Discussion's dirty laundry airing, I really have trouble
believing any of it. The fact that he didn't know who "Werkman" was,
shows that he mustn't of had too great a relationship with anybody close
to Jello. Anybody that knows anything about Alternative Tentacles knows
who Werkman is, and I doubt this Frank Discussion character.

Even if this gossip has any validity, who cares about Jello's personal
life anway? It has absolutely no bearing on the music that he makes or
the albums that he puts out. I'm sure I could find a few ex-girlfriends
out there to say some terrible things about me, and I'm sure I could
find a few others to say that I'm as pure as the driven snow...

I think the bottom line is that you don't even necessarily have to
personally like the person to enjoy their art. Reciprocally, you can
love a personal personally and but think their art stinks.

Uh...how many times do I have to say this:

1) I was asked several times before airing this dirty laundry as you call
it, yes?
2) I tried to back away from telling about the events, right?
2) I have said repeatedly that all this was 16 years ago, yes?
3) I have *never* said that he couldn't be a nice guy, only that there were
'other aspects' as well, like everybody else.
4) I finally responded to *years* of him telling lies about me
5) If you (or Werkman, or whoever) are so fucking close to him, why don't
you ask him about me? Simple enough, yes?

I really find being asked *repeatedly* to tell my version of the events only
to be called a gossip afterwards, endearing. Oh, and being called a liar to
boot. Annnnd let's not forget having to repeat things endlessly because so
many of you didn't bother to read the whole fucking post, not to mention the
thread. Gotta love it...

Mr. Discussion:

Why do you care what these people say? I mean, they are obviously so far
beneath you, you should not condescend to reply to their inane posts. Who
cares what 500 seventeen-year-olds think? You certainly should not,
considering your status in the punk rock community; elite status, I should say.
Is it really a big deal if some snot-nosed punks call you a liar. If you know
you're telling the truth, bollocks to all of 'em. If you are making it up,
just chuckle to yourself, quietly. By replying to their crap, you are merely
adding fuel to the fire. And, IMHO, replying and slagging people is just
totally futile. That Eastern Bloc Boys slam was pretty much uncalled for.
Then again, I'm such a devout, through-and-through pacifist that I'm not fond
of any sort of violent confrontation, be it physical or verbal. So, in
summation, I'd just like to say this to Mr. Discussion: don't sink to their (I
should probably say "our", cuz I'm just as guilty as the rest) level.

Think like I do or I'll beat you into submission,

Gotta agree. I find it incredible that so many people are resorting
to the idea that you're either the truth-bearer of all time and that
Jello is scum or that you're a fake and/or outright liar and that
Jello can do no wrong.

Grow up, people. This isn't to all of you, but some of you need to
accept that people are people. Maybe Jello did charge his wife rent
and treat her like that. Maybe Frank is a fake. Maybe Frank is for
real and is lying here to get back at Jello. Who the hell REALLY
knows? Certainly, and I don't mean to attack to anyone, but certainly
not someone who met Jello for a few minutes. There are married
couples - live together, day in, day out - and never find out certain
aspects about the others' past life, personality, etc.

I used to be rather conservative and racist - I'm not anymore, but I
*used* to be. So what? Well you wouldn't know that if I hadn't told
you. Many of my friends today don't know that, because I haven't told
them! If two friends don't know things about one anothers' past, how
impersonal do you think the idea of some guy singing on a record and
you *buying* the record is?

I'm not claiming Frank is a liar, or that he's telling the truth. I
don't know, and really, I don't care that much since a). It's the
music that matters for the fans b). Only Frank, Jello and Theresa
know for sure.

He Frank. It's Melody. I have white hair now, but still rock. Mostly working on adaptive sports things, which include some pretty creative stuff. Winston contacted me recently, went way out of his way to leave me a message through Rose which was then relayed to me. I called him back then heard nothing. Whatever. I was just wondering how you are. I still do Wing Chun. My contact info is everywhere online if you Google me you will find it.
