3. What shows did not get renewed?
ANSWER:
ENDING THEIR RUN THIS SEASON:
o THE X-FILES (after 9 glorious Seasons)
o ALLY McBEAL (after 5 wonderful Seasons)
o THE TICK
o FAMILY GUY
o AMERICAN EMBASSY
o DARK ANGEL
o PASADENA
o TITUS
o GREG THE BUNNY
o THAT 80s SHOW
o UNDECLARED
Folks, this is a very dark day. My love for this show, and the lovely
and talented Jessica Alba runs deep. Sure, there were times when it
was corny, times when the story line didn't flow, yes it had its
flaws.
But every Friday, my wife would make our child miss her nap so she
would go to sleep before DA started. Every Friday, we would make
drinks and prepare to enjoy our show. Every (almost) Friday, we would
tape it, only to watch it again Saturday afternoon.
On the lucky occasions that there would be a funny or particularly
sexy scene, I would even take the time to vid cap it to share with
you, my friends and fellow fans. And all that has now come to an end.
It's been a fun two seasons, debating the latent homosexual themes,
the possibilities of Max in heat in the real world, and who could
forget the good natured (for the most part) banter with the wonksters?
Now it has come to an end. Never more shall we participate in
George's polls, debate the meaning of the ancient cult, ponder the
whereabouts of Lydecker, eagerly anticipate that private moment
between Max and O.C... oops, I mean Logan.
Sure, Jessica Alba will move on, find new work and new roles, but
never again will she climb aboard her bike with her yellow tinted
shades and set out to right the wrongs of post-apocalyptic Seattle.
It's been a fun ride, but now it has come to an end. All that's left
is the debate of why it's gone and where it can go, but I don't have
the energy for that...
All I can say is thank you for helping me to be a fan, even the
critics of DA that may read this. It's been a fun ride that I've
enjoyed, and I hope that you've enjoyed my participation as much as
I've enjoyed participating.
In closing, I have only this to say...
DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!
DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!
DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!

I thought you were going to say "fe nes tol, bitch!"
I don't think it's all over yet (though I may be in denial) but I,
too, enjoyed the hell out of this show. Jess Alba is very beautiful,
and I liked the story and the characters. Here's hoping they'll do
something with the story and continue it in some form or fashion. (at
least I have all the episodes on the hard drive for the DA marathons
:)
Thanks to the producers, crew, and cast of Dark Angel!

More sympathy from ATBVS to everyone on alt.fan.jessica-alba and

Cameron has a lot of muscle. Here's hoping you guys get a Dark Angel

DooM who says he doubts they will air something better next year!
On that same note, is there any word on the Jessica Alba indie flick "The

There was some rumbling about a Dark Angel feature film, though...this was
several months ago, so it may have gone by the wayside.

Chyler Leigh (who played Tuesday on "That '80s Show") wasn't unemployed very
long. She's been cast as one of the leads of "Girls Club," David Kelley's
new show about a group of young women lawyers.
FOX has a very mixed record with animation. They have hits with "Simpsons"
and "King of the Hill" but they didn't know what to do with "Family Guy" or
"Futurama." Most people won't realize that "Futurama" has been cancelled
because they had sixteen completed episodes that never aired and they're
going to use them up next season in the same haphazard way it was scheduled
this year. But no more episodes are scheduled to be made.

More like 3 wonderful Seasons (there are a lot of words I can use to
describe the last two, but "wonderful" isn't one of them).

This was very funny, unlike "Futurama"'s third season.

It really delivers. Anything you may have liked about the show through
the two seasons, was packed into those 90 minutes. Cameron did a great
job.

>CindyLover
I really liked Dark Angel too, as well as Buffy (I'm allowed to like
both aren't I?), and what I never understood was why the hell did they
move it to Friday? It was doing fine on Tuesday and as soon as they
announced Dark Angel was moving to Friday you could see the
cancellation coming for 2 reasons:
Reason 1: The number one target audience for this show are young guys
that think Jessica Alba is hot (i.e. men between 15 and 25... or
somewhere in that area). Friday night is the ABSOLUTE WORST time slot
to get those people to watch
Reason 2: Every show Fox has put on Friday at 8 has died. Before Dark
Angel it was The Lone Gunmen and before the Lone Gunmen it was the
short-lived Freakylinks (which I also liked BTW and was sad to see
go). Hey Fox dumbasses, ever think the problem might be with the
timeslot and not the show?
Just look at all the magazine covers JA has been on over the last year
and a half and ask yourself if the show isn't popular. Everything was
great until you moved it! IDIOTS! Why not move it to a different time
slot and see if that works out better instead of cancelling outright?
Wait, that would take brain cells and creativity. I doubt the people
that brought us Glutton Bowl, Celebrity Boxing, Temptation Island, and
Who Mants to Marry a Millionaire have much of either (Though I did
like Who Wants to be a Playmate Centerfold).
I am sad to see Dark Angel go because it had humor, action, drama and
had a fan base/cult following (whatever you want to call it) pretty
similar to what Buffy had after its' first two seasons. I know we'll
hear from Jessica Alba again soon and you never know... if another
network picks up the show and gives it a middle-of-the-week time slot
when guys can actually watch it or if a network like UPN picks it up
where ratings demands aren't as high as they are on Fox then it might
catch on again.
Execs do those sorts of nasty little things.
Wonder if Cameron will be able to do anything to finish
up the story. I'd rent the video.
If four million rent the video, does the show make a profit?

That might just say it all.
Did anyone else's Sunday ads have a long haired Jessica promoting
shampoo?

Let's say you had two choices:
1. Spend a lot of time and money on a project, let's call it
the "Dark Angel" thing, expecting that it will give you a 2%
return on your time and money investment.
2. Do some other project that is expected to return 40-50%
in the same period of time.
Just doing it so that a few fans who like to buy videos are
satisfied might not be incentive enough.

Death wish? Or maybe they were unsure about renewing it last year and
decided "OK, we'll satisfy Cameron and bring it back but put it in the
Slot of Death so we can have an excuse for cancelling it next year."

The show did have a lot of female fans as well, and they can't all
have been on the lines of Original Cindy - but your point holds.

David Duchovny summed up a cult following perfectly on "The Larry
Sanders Show": a cult show is a show that has really bad ratings, a
big cult show is one that only has low ratings (or something like
that, but you get the idea). But it did/does have a fan base, and the
show does, whichever way you look at it, qualify as "cult TV."

This thing's been discussed elsewhere, no?

I wonder how Seth Green (Oz) feel? Two shows he was involved with
("Family Guy", "Greg the Bunny" {which I did not find funny at
all})have been shot down.

So does that confirm it isn't a weave?
I see this is an analogy!
Lets say you have two choices:
1) Your wife that lives with you everyday, raises your kids, makes
sure the home is in order, does everything she can to handle all those
little things you always forget.
2) Some street whore who only concerns themsleves with doing the
minimum for the money.
Nevermind, you made your point.

SESAME STREET has been on for decades.
Except that a "brand" name is worth more than an unknown.
"Dark Angel" would bring people into movie houses. The question is, how
many? By my count, I think a DA movie could easily clear $50 million. So,
if they can produce a movie costing ~$30 mil, it'd be clearly profitable
in just the US alone (add in overseas, and the take could be double what I
said).
So, the real question is, would Cameron be willing to produce a movie for
the relatively cheap cost of ~$30 mil? If he is, I think they should go
for it.
