I don't know about the rest of you but for me one of the fun pieces of
any new 007 movie experience is the release of the advanced and
regular "A" sheets. Seeing the advanced post for TWINE this weekend
made me a bit nostalgic for the great Bond posters of yesteryear.
With that in mind I thought it would be intresting to see what other
folk in this NG felt were the best posters over the years. So, here
are a few entrie I would place into a prospective "Top Ten Bond Movie
Posters"
1) You Only Live Twice (the once with Bond inside the volcano)
2) Dr. No (quite nice considering the simplicity of its elements )
3) The Spy Who Loved Me.
4) The man with the Golden Gun (Villians Poster version)
5) For Your Eyes Only (I love those legs!)
I'll start with those five; please do add on your own comments on the
above or additional entries to eventually compile a Top Ten list.
Also, did you prefer the painted posters versus the Photo or Photo
montage posters (I find I lean towards the painted ones myself).
Anyway, thank you for reading and commenting!

I'm a big fan of the "Thunderball" poster, its probably my favorite.
"Goldfinger" is too dark, and the artwork (not the photographs) of Connery
has a cartoonish quality I don't care for. "Dr. No" is superb as you've
mentioned, I currently hang it in my office. I also enjoy the "You Only
Live Twice" artwork, though the two huge subway posters I have would cost a
small fortune to frame; not to mention I have nowhere large enough to hang
them. I like "Goldeneye" as well, but abhor the "Tomorrow Never Dies"
poster which has a terrible looking photo of Brosnan. Dalton looked good in
the photographs on the posters he did, they are great though I prefer
artwork to photography in movie posters generally. The simplicity of the
two "From Russia With Love" ("A" and "B") posters grows on me, though I do
not display them like the others ("Goldfinger", "Thunderball", "Dr. No",
"Goldeneye") I've mentioned. I rotate each after a period of time. They
are terrific pieces of pop culture and wonderful conversation pieces.
I bought most of my posters (all original) when I was 14 or 15 and swear I
didn't pay more than about $12.00 for any one of them. Anyone know how much
they might be worth today?

Yikes... all framed originals too, you say? I'm no expert, but from what
I've seen, the FRWL (especially the A style, that's the one with the four
girls, right?), TB and GF could go on ebay for $100-$200 each unframed, the
DN could get you $300-$400. With the frames, the prices would be
considerably higher. A TB and YOLT subway poster like the one you mentioned
went recently for over $1000 each.
Personally, my favorite is the TB one-sheet. The whole "Look up..." theme is
classic. Second would be the British TLD quad, third would be the GE US
"There is no substitute" teaser one-sheet, DN for it's classy early 60's
simplicity, then Goldfinger for the "Everything he touches turns to
excitement!" tagline, and finally the GE one-sheet, very good for a photo
montage.
I hope they do something better with TWINE than they did with the other
Brosnan films, look at any GE poster (one-sheet, quad, US or international
teaser) or any TND poster and you'll see that it's all big Brosnan faces.
Definitely time for something different.
