A Jewish name (also common among Syrian Christians - Avrachen=Avram)!

Nayee Dillee, Feb. 10 - The mortal remains of the former Chief of
the Army Staff, Gen. K. Sundarji, were consigned to the flames at
the Brar Square Crematorium here today.
The pyre was lit by his 12-year-old grandson, Avram Sundarji, as
the General's son was unable to reach the cremation ground on time
due to unforeseeable reasons. The young boy was helped in
performing the task by the General's wife, Vani, and daughter-in-
law, Padma Rao.
The cremation ground was flooded with Defence personnel. The Army
Chief, General V. P. Malik, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief
Marshal A. Y. Tipnis, were present along with the Scientific
Advisor to the Defence Minister, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the
Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Prabhat Kumar, and the Defence Secretary,
Mr. T. R. Prasad. Also present were two former Army Chiefs, General
O. P. Malhotra and General V. N. Sharma, the former Navy Chief,
Admiral H. S. Tahiliani, and former Union Ministers, Mr. Rajesh
Pilot and Prof. M.G.K. Menon.
All of them placed wreaths on the body. Wreaths were also laid on
behalf of the President, Mr. K. R. Narayanan, the Vice-President,
Mr. Krishan Kant, the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, and
the Defence Minister, Mr. George Fernandes.
This morning the body was kept in state at 6 Baird Place from where
it was taken in a procession to the cremation ground in the
afternoon. Two pilot jeeps escorted a column of nine trucks, the
eighth of which was a gun carriage on which the coffin had been
placed. The wooden case was kept wrapped in the Tricolour and was
bedecked with wreaths and white roses which adorned the gun
carriage.
A large number of people lined up the route to watch the General's
last journey.
