The Matchmaker didn't offer a soundtrack for some reason, but did list the
songs played. Its hard to read the credits though on the small screen, but
one of the songs--"She's the one"--where "Marci" is flying away toward the
end of the picture, is out on a separate cassette/CD by "World Party".

The majority of their music reminds me of the Beatles of old, and that song
is a favorite so it was worth buying the CD.

The remainder of the songs:

Rock and Roll Paddy by Shane MacGowan (and the Pagers? ...and the Pipers!)
Twelve White Horses (Kieran Kennedy)
Danny Boy (traditional Irish)
Fields of Athenry (written by Pete [?] St. John)
Candle in the Wind (Elton John)
And a Bang on the Ear (the Waterboys)
Raglan Road (written by Patrick Kavanaugh [?])
Haunted (Shane MacGowan and Sinead O'Connor)*
She's the One (World Party)
Irish Heartbeats (Van Morrison and The Chieftains)**
Female of the Species (performed by Space [?])
Sad the Girl (the Equations [?])

Shane McDonnell arranged the traditional and live music for the film.
Basically, you have to pick out what you like from the film, find a good
music store (one with a music catalog you can search through) and see if
you can find individual recordings.) Virgin (Atlantic) Records also has a
way of coming up with the unusual!

*This song was also utilized in Denis Leary's movie, "Two if by Sea", with
Sandra J. Bullock. Leary was one of the screenwriters.

** For the traditional Irish folk sound, and a crossover to the more modern
music and themes, The Chieftains are the best (simply aces!) I strongly
recommend anything by The Chieftains!

Perhaps someone else with a bigger, clearer screen, can re-read the credits
and assist you if I have any of the names wrong. Also, I am curious as to
whether "Raglan Road", was written for the film or is a traditional Irish
ballad, as it sounded? That was my favorite song from the film.

Best Regards,

DA BEAR!!!

I recommend anything by Shane MacGowan-- solo stuff, or older recordings like
when he was with the Pogues. If you can get into Irish music with a punk
attitude, check him out. He's one of the most gifted songwriters around.
Whoever compiled the music for Matchmaker did a great job. Shame they never
released a soundtrack.

If anyone's interested, I can check the press kit for the song credits.
And post them here.

I'd like an address/e-mail re: having a press kit sent to me.

Raglan Road is a traditional, Irish song.

Definitely check out "Fairytale of New York" by Shane McGowan and the
Pogues, featuring Kirsty McCall.. It simply is the greatest christmas
song (a bit early, I know.. but fantastic anyway...)

Woah.... sorry, forgot I'd made that post, and only just realised people had
answered :)!

Great song to get drunk to around Christmas and sing with a bunch of equally
drunk people :))

Cheers,
