I think you both should head on over to K.P. Sin's official Morse website:
The Sub-Orbital - a site for fans of Inspector Morse
http://www.accessus.net/~dr_who/drwho.html
You'll find what you're looking for, and a whole bunch more.

>Does anyone have a chronology of Colin Dexter's Morse books? I'd like
>to read them in order. That's important, don't you think?
I don't think chronology is that important with Morse. He is Eternal
(or Endeavouring to be anyway).
My versions say:
1976 - Last Seen Wearing
1981 - The Dead of Jericho
1984 - The Riddle of the Third Mile
1987 - The Secret of Annexe 3
1989 - The Wench is Dead
1991 - The Jewel That Was Ours
1993 - The Way Through the Woods
1994 - Daughters of Cain
1995 - Morse's Greatest Mystery
I always thought the Silent World of Nicholas Quinn was the first
version.
I don't have dates for:
Last Bus to Woodstock
Service of All the Dead
or any others I haven't mentioned.
Hope this helps.
