Layoffs imminent at the Stern show

If Hmus keeps his "threat" to only play records when the new indecency rules
inevitably become law, there will be massive layoffs at the Stern show.

No way around it.

Infinity (now ruled by Les "the snake" Moonves) will have to cut the budget
of the show and lay off much of the staff. A bloated staff isn't necessary
for a music show, and show advertising revenues and syndication fees will
dry up under an all-music format. WXRK's music format is already struggling
in the market thanks to the genius of Tom Chiusano and Chuck Roast.

Bababooey supposedly has no contract and will probably get the axe since he
has the biggest salary in the back office and his services - goading women
into stripping - will not be required. Hope he didn't sign a long term
lease on that Bavarian.

Robin, like Hmus, probably has a "pay or play" contract guaranteeing her
full pay if she's canned. Maybe she'll be kept on to read news, or sweep
the studio floor (the job that suits her best).

If Fred doesn't have an ironclad contract he'll be fired or have his salary
renegotiated down - way, way down. There will be no need for his sound
effects, but he can still play the commercial spots. If he doesn't like
Moonves' offer he can listen to that "golden mouthwash" audio at home with
Allison while he reads the classified ads to baby Tess.

Artie Lange is gone.

K.C. Armstrong is gone.

Benjy Bronk is gone.

Whoever wins John's job is gone.

The E! crew is reassigned and some laid off (Mike Gangi), but that's E!'s
problem.

Scott Salem, a union engineer, is completely safe. Sad but true.

Even after all the firings, the show would still lose money (due to Stern's
huge salary) since it will have no value to syndicators and get dumped.
Even Infinity stations will dump it because it'll be more profitable for
them to program music for the local audiences and develop local talent.

Does anyone think Hmus will voluntarily take a big cut in pay to help keep
these people employed on his new music show? <insert maniacal DeNiro laugh>

What about the E show? Hell, they can't even play song clips from Stump the
Booey. Doe he have some kind of contract with them?

He could try to talk them into changing that show into some kind of
talk show where he can do his political rants, but Mindy Herman is gone and
Comcast and Disney own the channel.

That would also involve some party putting some money in that isn't
being done for the present show.
