My biggest surprise is that frogbrain is still with him.
She must be dumber than she looks to live with that old ugly fuck.
For no particular reason, I poked my nose back into the group to see what....if anything .....was going on.
After all these years, incredibly there are still no comedy oriented morning drive... free radio programs.... on in NYC.
Now the only laughs are provided by the few liberal talk shows available here.
I'm feeling generous, so I'll throw this out there:
Don't even relate the info: Just tell me where to find it. A link. A
magazine. I'll need page numbers, and a heading so I'm not looking all
over for the needle in the haystack. Sound fair?
Michael
Ok, that's a low blow. Im sure Nancy had no idea Jimmy was blowing her
money on 6,667 pieces of toilet paper.
Just saying...
>BethO.com got more time on two apperances on
>>>>>>>>Fox & Friends with an "adopt one of these animals" segments.
beth's book was awwweeesooomme.
She's a great writer.
Look at all the furry little creatures she's helping out!
I thought Sirius was gonna do Arbitron ratings but after seeing them
they decided for some reason to not release them to the public.
Michael
He called my bullshit "dopey". IMHO I went easy.
:)
Michael
> yes, thank you, shitfoot.
Seems iffy. Should we ask Django?
Why? I doubt she listens to bad "comedy".
BTW, still waiting to hear where all that info is to "easily disprove"
me. No rush. Just didn't wantyou to think I'd forgotten.
:)
Michael
You're welcome, Fester.
<snicker>
Dare I ask?
Okay I dare.
Who's Django?
Michael
Ask Jimmy. Don't expect an answer, but it would be funny as hell if
he'd answer truthfully.
Let's just say Django is probably the reason Fester "x-archive-no's"
his posts.
> ask you rmother.
Wow. Did you think the sting from your wit there outweighed the pathetic
acknowledgement of your classic, lame, self-praise? Or reference to it
repeated again?
Sadly, the Geocities page is gone. If Jimmy doesn't want to talk about
it, I'll find the post in google groups. Anyone have the Devo love
letter? Those should both be saved for posterity.
I think it's time to whip out both of those gems. They're by far the
funniest "bits" Jimmy has ever written.
> I think it's time to whip out both of those gems. They're by far the

Now, remember Jimmy used to call himself "Boom" (in everyday
conversation, not when pretending to be other people). Evidently on the
alt.guitar.bass group, Jimmy had posted audio, or a link to audio, of his
own bass playing. From his style of discussion here, you may have
noticed that he might be said to be thin-skinned. Along the same line,
he was so worried about criticism of his playing that he made up fake
people (often called 'puppets' in newsgroup-speak) to (cringe) praise
himself. Here's the first, "Django the 12th":

Subject: Re: Boom's Demo
I'm totally with Boom and though I wouldn't invite him to Sunday dinner
at my
church, he ended up proving everything he said and all you guys who
didn't like
what he said could do is make up stuff in retaliation. I don't pretend
to know
much about anything on the bass other than I like playing, but I've seen
some
of the articles with studio players where they said the same things about
Fenders as he did. He never insulted anyone who didn't insult him
first. And
if someone called me a fraud and tried to tell me that I didn't do the
things
that I do that make me what I am, I'd probably react the same way, and so
would
most of you. And if you said any of that stuff to my face, which you
probably
don't have the guts to do, then you'd be eating through a straw for the
next
couple weeks. He never told anyone they had to play Fenders. He just
said that
to be a working pro in the studio that you should own one. He also said
that
they were the most universally loved bass in the world, and from what
I've seen
at shows and on TV hes right.
I thought his demo was pretty good. He won't win any Bass Player of the
year
awards but he's good and I like his songs, especially the country songs.
And
it's obvious he can play bass. Genomeman said he heard a late hit on one
of
the slaps but you can hear late hits on almost anyone's stuff out there
if you
listen hard enough. Les Claypool is the king of late hits but nobody
complains
about his playing. And Genomeman isn't one to talk about not being
original.
His stuff has good playing but it puts me to sleep. If Boom is telling
the
truth about what he recorded this stuff on, then he's not only a producer
but
an amazing one. The stuff I record on my computer sounds like I did it
on a
kids boombox compared to what Boom's stuff sounds like. Complaining
about what
basses he used is pointless. He can play and that's all there is to it.
I
never saw any messages where he said you couldn't record with other basses
beside Fender and get a good sound. He just said that if your sound isn't
cutting it, producers will ask you to play a Fender. I think some of you
are
believing the lies you posted to try to make him look bad. But Boom has
the
ultimate revenge. He completely proved the people calling him a fraud
wrong.
I'm sure I'll get a lot of flames for this from the ones who tried so
hard to
make him look bad, but it had to be said. Thanks for running off another
person who actually had something to contribute.
Also, Kirk Cazee, AOL may be the A/S/L capital of the internet, and I
don't
like everything about it, but people of all walks of life use it,
including
many people who you probably do respect. It's the easiest and cheapest
way to
keep up with your email when you're on the road a lot, and it's about the
only
ISP that hasn't changed its name once a year. You'd be surprised how many
people that aren't script kiddies or cybersex addicts use AOL. So if you
don't
take anyone seriously who uses AOL, that's your problem.

Sorry Genomeman, but I just don't care for that style of music. That was
the song I heard before, too. You can definitely play, but to my ears it
sounded like an extended jam that you guys whittled down into a song.
Fine if you're Phish or the Dead but don't give up the day job. It's
creative in the sense that you wrote it and played it, but don't make it
sound like you're reinventing the wheel and he's not, because I don't
think you're doing such a hot job of being totally original yourself.
But Boom hasn't alleged that he's reinventing the wheel. You apparently
are. As far as the lyrics go, I can barely understand them and what
lyrics I hear make no sense. Boom's lyrics are easily understandable and
mean something. Some people get into that metaphysic cosmic lyric stuff,
but I'm not one of them. Your recording quality is decent, but the
acoustic guitars sound tubby like Ovations and it's certainly not the
best-recorded music the world has ever seen. Your slapping is good but
to my ears, it didn't impress me any more than Boom's. It sounds like
you recorded at one of the best studios in your area using the best of
everything. Boom said most of his stuff was recorded on his computer
with a $160 soundcard and a cheap preamp or an ADAT. You drop Boom in a
good studio and there's not a doubt in my mind that the sound quality he
gets would be equal or better than yours. Could you go to Boom's studio
and do as good as he does? As for playing skill, if you think his playing
skill is vanilla, then you are obviously one of those guys who aren't
impressed by anything that doesn't have a constant slew of notes
streaming by. His bass playing in that uptemop country song is damn good
and the line he plays fits the music exactly. Does a nice Brick House
too. And even if you are only impressed by monster chops, we don't know
if this is the fastest he can play, anyway. Maybe he's just one of those
guys who doesn't want to ruin his songs by having the bass do too much.
Anyway, I don't want to get into a dick-sizing contest with you over
this. He never claimed he was the greatest thing to ever hit the bass
world. He never claimed to be a "platinum" producer. You guys only want
to believe he said that. He only said he was a working bass player and
producer. Judging by what I've heard, he's proved it.

Haha...so now I'm Boom because I don't think you're a world class bassist?
Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not. My name is Don. You can go ahead
and
think I am if it helps you deal with your hurt feelings though. I don't
know
if Boom can play that stuff and I don't care. But if you're so much
better
than Boom, how come you're working a day job and he's not? You can
obviously
play, no doubt about that. But your fingerstyle is nothing to write home
about. It seems like any time you play fast it's due to tricks like
double
thumbing and hammer-ons. You might want to check that descending run
right
before the fadeout on Ballistic. Very sloppy for a guy who is pointing
out how
he's so much better than everyone else. I will give you credit though.
If you
did in fact record that stuff on a Layla card, then nice job. But after
hearing that slop on Ballistic that you claim to be such awesome bass
work,
don't point out other people's flaws because you have work to do yourself.
You're better than most but not as good as you think you are. Victor
Wooten's
job is secure.
... but oops, he meant to be Django there, not Boom or JM. And everybody
noticed.

Once again Mr. Producer/Session/Fender dude. Nice try.
Note the jm7...@aol.com below?
Get a life, "Don."
Too pathetic.
"GENOMEMAN" <jm7...@aol.com> wrote in message
Then he pretended it was a joke, ha ha ha. What a tool.
Now here's another douche-chiller. Jimmy, a person in late mid-life,
writes fanboy paean to his hero:
Q: Jerry, As a huge fan of your work since I've known there was a DEVO, I
must congratulate you and your fellow spuds on the terrific DVD's you've
released and the renaissance, if you will, of your music and themes. And
though I won't get to see any of your gigs this year, I'm glad to see
that DEVO is still a ongoing musical concern, limited as it may be. Try
to book something in Florida sometime, though. I know Orlando probably
still holds the record (as you said during the Total Devo show I saw) for
breaking equipment, but there's still a great big wad of DEVO-tees who
would love to see Devo again.
Jerry, as I peruse the net and read many of the old and new articles
related to DEVO, as well as the biography, your negativity about the
human condition is completely overwhelming, probably more so than anyone
currently alive who's not serving a life sentence. It seems strange,
though, because I've run into you briefly several times over the years
and have always found you a fairly pleasant guy with a cordial manner,
even when faced with obnoxious spuds such as myself demanding autographs
and pictures. I would have thought that anyone as negative as you would
have to be a scumbag asshole, yet there you were shakin' hands and
kissin' babies at the shows like you were the happiest spud on earth.
Hard to believe that it's the same guy who looks like he's having the
time of his life whacking a bass and singing "Mongoloid" telling us that
the world is going down the universal crapper and there's nothing anyone
can do about it.
So my question to you is how, in a day and age where you feel conditions
in the world are even worse now than they were when you were at the Kent
State shootings, how do you manage to keep going? How do you manage to
keep whacking that bass with all the fire you had when you were younger
with over 50 years of collected de-evolution weighing down your soul?
What brings you enough positive energy to carry on in a world you've come
to despise so deeply? I mean, sure, I see things that depress me and make
me believe that you're right, but I still see a lot of things that make
me happy and feel like there's hope for the human race. I'm going to come
right out and say it...yes, I believe for the most part it's a beautiful
world. Then again, I live an hour away from Disney World so I guess I
would say that.
But whether I agree or disagree with any aspects of your philosophy, your
music meant a lot to me as a confused teen spud back in 1978. There I
was, rapidly approaching legal adulthood, thinking I finally had a handle
on the way of the world, then here comes DEVO to come along to tell us we
didn't know shit. You were absolutely right, and to this day, no matter
how much knowledge I gain, I still don't know shit, so you did your job
and did it well.
-- Jimmy Miller / Deltona, Florida
Brrrrrrr!
I still get douche chills....
That's all you got, Fester? No wonder Hoo Hoo doesn't pay you...
PS: Tell "Don" I said "HEY"!

Again I have to ask if you've really thought out the cost:benefit
analysis of your one-line post that's so mindlessly hack it really serves
only to make you look like even more of a dolt than you are (!) while
also serving to cause more hits on newsgroup archives for searches of
your name with "douche" or "devo ass slather" or "puppet bass loser".
Who is the old goblin?
I'm sure you would jump at the chance to.
Why the jealousy?

She wrote a book, about doggies, and puppies, no bunnies, but puppies,
and for Beth, it was a good opportunity...to do writing and stuff like
that.
It was something she wanted to do for a long time, like, a month or
something, because she loves bunnies, and little birdies, and puppies
and doggies like that, not even the expensive ones too!
She is a perfect exampleof the altruistic people we should all try to
become.
How's your business? I remember you saying you'd be taking lots of
vacations after Obama got elected. That still the case?

You do hear FAR less about Stern now than you did before he stared on
Sirius. Even less about what goes on on his show and channels.
Michael

I think what happened with comedy radio is that after the double shot of
Janet Jackson and the O&A sex in the church mess radio got rid of some
(Mike O'Meara, Adam Carolla, Tom Leykis (the biggest shock to me since
he had loads of afiliates, though he's not strictly comedy)) while
others left (Stern, Ron & Fez, and others).
The only ones I can think of who are keeping on at a smaller level are
Don Geronimo (who'd left due to being fed up at CBS and the death of his
previous wife), now out of Sacramento, and Bubba The Love Sponge, who I
don't think was satellite-only for long if at all, and, last I heard, is
more non-satellite-oriented since he makes more money via that route
than on Stern's channels.
Michael
P.S. The O'Meara and Carolla shows are podcasted these days (in case
anyone didn't know).
I remember the Arquette thing. That was good for two days of "as heard
on the Howard Stern Show".
He was rumored to be wanting a juding spot on American. Idol. So?
Someone tried to float a rumor around the time of his re-upping with
Sirius/XM that he was gonna get more $ to sign with Apple to do stuff
via iTunes.
I heard mention of the new contract for a day or two on the
regular/cable news.
Didn't hear a thing about Gary's book. Saw it at the bookstores but
that's it.
So that's, what, a week's worth of 1-minutes mentions (at best -
Arquette maybe got him a ten-second note) on selected newscasts around
the country? BethO.com got more time on two apperances on Fox & Friends
with an "adopt one of these animals" segments.

How many peeps signed up to Sirius specifically and only up for H?
What's his ratings? What Bubba's ratings? Ferrell's? Tissue Time's?
And where's this info at?

It's so easily disproven that Jimmy/Django can't be bothered to easily
disprove it instead of twisting into a pretzel to explain why.
Why don't you have one of your imaginary newsgroup friends disprove it,
Jimmy? Then you can keep your pride intact (snort).
