USA Today published an AP report about Condoleezza Rice declining to rule
out that troops could be in Iraq for ten years. A photo was posted of Rice
in this article and it's hard not to notice that the photo looks unusual. In
this extremely unflattering photo Rice looks almost as though she has been
possessed.
But wait! Turns out the photo has been altered. FromThePen has found the
original photo. Rice's eyes were changed to give her this demonic look. It's
a quick and easy thing to do and creates a subtle, but effective, look of
aggression.
How low will the media stoop to make officials of the Bush administration
look bad? It's a good thing that alternative media is now keeping an eye on
the mainstream media, or USA Today might have actually gotten away with
this!
NewsBusters has an excellent posting on "responsible photo ethics" that
provides the guidelines for editing photos and then proceeds to say:
It is quite clear that USA Today violated these guidelines, creating an
image that was a misleading, decidedly negative representation of an
individual. The person or persons who directly manipulated this photo and
the person who allowed it to run should be disciplined, and possibly
terminated for a gross and deliberate abuse of journalistic integrity.

USA Today sent Michael Moore to the Repub convention as their
correspondent. How fucking WRONG is that?
AP proves daily that they more closely resemble an anti-Bush
