I LOVE IT! When he does that deep manly laugh and talks about her
testicles and tea-bagging...it just totally cracks me up!

Fred's impersonization of Nicole Bass sounds a lot like Howard's
impersonization of her. I wonder who first came up with it. I recall
Howard interviewing Nicole Bass (or some other she-man) on the New Year's
Pay-per-view show he did several years ago. Howard dressed up like a woman
for the interview, and every time Nicole laughed, Howard would go into that
impersonization laugh. It was a really funny interview if you ever get to
see it.

I believe that it was Fred/Eric, because she had been on the radio before
New Years Rotten Eve. Fred evolved his Herman Munster, because Nichole
acted like there was nothing wrong with her. It was more a parody on her
nievety, but the voice Howard used on NYRE, was a prody of her.

They've really been hard on her lately, too. I couldn't believe Robin said
those things about her drooping lips. I'm sure Robin's isn't the most
apealing to the eye, and by the way, Robin seemed to have admitted to seeing
a lot of vag in her day. Whats up with that?

It's just Fred's Munster impersonation applied to the "monsterous"
Nicole. Who had the idea for the Munster voice? Gotta ask a veteran
listener with a good memory... I'm just a babe with about 5 years of
Stern listening under the belt.

Fred is the CORE of the STERN SHOW.

His sound effects are perfectly timed.

Howard's ass is sucking canal water when he says he'd keep robin over
fred in a mass firing.

5-year babe...

HOWARD actually used to do HERMIE's voice back in the days of NBC when
they did stuff like gay munsters, etc.
Check me on this, but I think a MUNSTERS skit once made it to the
channel 9 show... with HOWARD done up as HERMAN...sounding a lot like
FRED'S impersonation of 2002.

HOWEVER...IMHO... the BRILLIANCE of the voice lies in the timing.
FRED, being the MASTER of COMEDY that he is (IMHO) is on his own to
come up with NICHOLE BASS LINES to throw out during the conversation.
(he certainly isnt relying on ARTIE to scribble down lines a la
JACKIE)

FRED and BABA MONKEY are the CORE of the show's more brilliant moments
these days (IMHO)... FRED'S ability to come up with the lines abut
teabagging the judge and someone groping her testicles ALWAYS make me
laugh...

AND to THE STERN DETRACTORS... WHERE ELSE are you going to hear
that???

....Rupert

I love almost everything Fred does. As long as he doesn't over-do it,
which occasionally he does (St. John has been just a bit overdone,
IMO).

I think he's been lazy on the sounds lately tho. He has so many to
choose from, and has missed a couple opportunities.

"It doesn't matter", "It's not fun, not funny" and "Highly disgusting"
come immediately to mind.

I also love George whats-his-name from star trek's laugh. Fuck he
could use that for f-in ever. I was listening to the show one morning
with someone who hadn't heard it in a while, and she asked "Who the
hell is that laughing in the background?!?" (thinking the person was
actually present in the studio).

Was hilarious.

You're right about the Channel 9 show sketch. "Granpda" Al Lewis was on the
show and they did a sketch called "The Gay Munsters". Fred was in drag
on that show, as he often was beack then for sketches.
My favorite Fred in drag moment was when Richard Simmons was on one of
the first WWOR shows. As Richard sat next to him Howard played a segment
of "Sweatin' to the Oldies". They edited in Fred dressed head-to-toe in
a leather outfit including a hood and a whip standing next to Richard
and saying things like "Treat me like a bad boy". He also made spanking
motions towards the fitness guru with his whip. Goddamn it, I miss that
show.
Ahh yes, anyway, the WWOR show was only on from 1990-92, and Howard had
been doing Herman on the radio for years before that. He definitely did it
on the WNBC show.

Be careful how you throw around that word "brilliance" and "master of
comedy." Because HowWood will do his best to destroy what little of the
spotlight Fred has managed to get this past week. Watch how HowWood will
keep it going until Fred runs out of funny Nicole Bass lines. Then HowWood
will make some disparaging remark about a line for the slam dunk. Watch him
at work when Evil Dave comes in.

HowWood: I can't get Artie to do any writing

Artie: I'm having trouble with the mastering the computer but I did send
you something

HowWood: Oh yeah, I didn't read it

HowWood is such an interestingly f*cked-up man.

Yup. Fred has the impersonation down. Fred even has the timing down for
Herman/Nicole's "tsk" thrown in just at the right times. Whadda shame that
that's all we'll hear from Fred until March 2003.
